One of my best friends of 15 years and me live in different countries now, so we only see each other in rl 1-2 times a year, but everyday in FFXIV, so at some point it changed to us calling each other by our ingame names.
Even when we were with other friends or during a class reunion - which got us lots of weird looks, but it just felt more natural than the real name..?
