I really miss the 1.0 engine...
Though it may eventually come down to where his loyalty will truely lie either the Emperor or will it be the Empire itself.
The Garlean Empire is walking a dangerous road now with it trying to become the next Allagan Empire while also ignoring all the dangers the Allagan created due to their way of life.
I would not be surprised if once we reach the Garlean Empire Arc of the Main Storyline there may be a split in society between those loyal to the Emperor following his belief to basically become the next Allagan Empire to subjugate all races and exterminate all Beast tribe from the face the the planet and those loyal to the Empire itself seeking a new path that does not require subjugating the world and repeating the Allagan's mistakes to avoid the complete destruction of the Empire due to ignoring the dangers.
As for Regula's role in the story he may either become considered expendable by his Emperor, like most blindly loyal soldiers are usually considered when they're the antagonist, or develop into something more. We just have to wait and see if he develops beyond the "Oh my Emperor. My Emperor" position he currently is in.
That didn't stop me from hating Apollo in DoW2 Retribution due to how blindly loyal he was until it was too late for him to realize his mistake.
I almost made a "Who is Lor'themar Theron?" pun in regards to Regula van Hydrus. THAT's how much of an impact he has had on me in this game thus far. Frankly, I'd rather learn what Nero tol Scaeva has been up to since the Warrior of Light last saw him.
