Thank you, this was really the kind of answer i was seeking. I curse myself for spending 16 mil on a Zu mount when someone was holding a blind auction in party finder. The last one sold on the marketboard at the time was 50 mil. Thought I was getting a steal only to watch them quickly crash down to 1 million.
Your smart with the airship idea btw.
Make more than you spend = infinite gil.
Acquiring the means to sustain your fortune and make it grow is the hard part.
Been sitting over 850 mil, think in my whole FF14 life I've had over 1.5 billion gil. Gave away so many stuff during xmas tho, so was worth having much!

I teleport for free from doing hunts, and 30 million gill does me fine. But I think you would have to have a trillion in gill to reach near infinite
A billion Gil is more realistic. But really once you have a house you like, a minion you like, and a good cushion or nest egg of gil for anything you want in the future your good.
That was my curiosity but i didn't know how to ask given the differences in servers.
ps. Arawn Wymer did you play beta? you've got the same join date as me.
If devs want to deal with the excess gil in the game... I have come up with a solution!

There you go summoners! Enjoy your new summon! :P It would take "paid run" to a whole new level and cut out the middleman lol....
(For those that never played FFX, Yojimbo was a summon that did jack unless you paid him. If you paid him enough him was incredibly strong. If you were cheap then just slaps the enemy lightly and leaves.)
I'm kidding about actually adding Yojimbo btw... :P
If he was the teacher, he'd charge you to learn skills. :P
I always got tickled when I summoned him in FFX. It was always what I'd do when I was super desperate to beat a boss I was losing on. One time I did it, the boss didn't have much health so I thought it might be just what I needed. So I gave Yojimbo all the gil I had at the time (It was my first run through and I didn't know what was a 'lot'...lol)... Yojimbo took all my money and like threw a small dart at the boss and left me to die...
