The 80 unidentifiables is an especially obnoxious step.
Beast tribe: 4 of ARR beast tribes have the one of the items each in exchange for the tribe's currency. HW also have all 4 unidentifiables but at a higher currency price but also with a lower barrier for entry to earning currency.
Lv 50 ARR a-rank hunts reward poetics, esoterics, and allied seals. All three of those currencies can buy unidentifiables. The lv 50 hunts also seem to be lingering in popularity because of that and are pretty easy to burn. Join a hunt LS or multiple and be sure to party up to make getting full credit easy.
Do you have any tank or healer classes, OP? If you're purely DPS I'm not surprised at the long queue wait. I only ever queue for trials on my PLD.
Try queuing for primals during peak time, chances are you'll get quite a few newbie bonuses. And if you have any friends who haven't cleared Coil or EX primals yet, drag them along andTAKE THEIR BONUSEShelp them out.
Hunting is good to do as well, because it gives you some poetics/ esos as well as Allied Seals you can trade in for two types of tokens. For Alex runs, try putting together a farm party in PF aimed at people grinding relic instead of relying on DF, or you'll be there forever.
I wouldn't bother with maps unless you're loaded/ maps are cheap on your server/ you can gather them, and beast tribes take a while - though on the other hand, they are a nice break from the dungeon grind monotony, and can be done during queue waits.
Hang in there, OP! It's a dreadful grind, but it's possible. Just requires an unfortunate amount of time we'd rather spend elsewhere. A lot of the people are in the same boat!
But aren't beastman limited per day? I came back to this game to play it...not to do my expert/beast tribes and forget about FFXIV until next day. I'm not actually complaining about the grind...I'm concerned about how I can't progress at a reasonable pace given the meh state of the queues probably because of the nature of the game between patches...
Maps are another possibility but again, locked to one every 20 hours (20 hours it was?) unless I invest a lot of gil which I really really don't feel like doing...
I somehow wished I could get tomes out of a solo unsynched paty even if it was less of them (maybe half), I wouldn't certainly feel this walled.
It took me about 6 weeks to get my 210 relic. And that was withot doing anything different than I was already doing. It really isn't that hard and if you focus, you can do it in a couple of weeks. I'm working on my Pld Anima right now.
Yeah I main healer...SCH more specifically, I have DK too, but queues feel long with both roles, granted, I have many mornings free and I'm trying this at not the best time, but I queue up too on peak hours 6-9PM GMT and even there, I average 6-7 minute queues...which is very long considering the amount of times you are required to spam them to gather all this monstruosity SE asks for this step.
I'm thinking the 2.0 beastmen tribe quests may be the route to go in 3.3. The reputation is supposedly getting a major boost and you'll get some materia while you grind them. Still no nerf to this step which, honestly, makes me less inclined to finish the step because part of me really doesn't want to become part of the statistic that says "SE! PUNISH ME FOR YOUR MISTAKES PLEASE!! WHIP ME MORE!!1!"
They should have made this step equivalent to the difficulty Savage Gordias was meant to be not what it turned out to be. I mean they even said the difficulty of Gordias Savage was a mistake, so why does everyone need to get punished for that mistake?
Honestly, I thought a relic was something I could work for for all of my classes but with the grind as it has become it just isn't fun. I hate hunts, I dislike the beastmen quests for the 2.0 group. I did Vath and Vanu quests... I have 2 stacks of tokens each and that can buy me 10 items each. 33 days of quest grinds for 1/4 of the items needed.
This step could be eased a bit. The drop-rates for anima-crystals will be increase for 3.3. I totally agree with this point, because grinding FATEs with a drop rate is the worst thing ever. To be clear: I found a longer progression not so bad like an unfair droprate.
But still, the next worst part is the step 200-210. Doing 10 dungeons or get 5 oils from CT/Esoteric is done in no time. But to get your hands on 80 specific items + 16 HQ crafted items takes forever! So, I hope they will adjust this with 3.4.
Yes, you can do only 12 beast quests a day (which generally takes about half hour if you don't need a fate), but that also means you can get between 4 and 6 unidentified items a week, depending on whether you're doing the 4 original ARR beast tribes (excluding Ixali, each of the other 4 deals in a specific unidentified item) or also mixing in the two newer HW beast tribes (who let you buy any of the unidentified items, but at more "cost" than the ARR tribes).
But this does rely on you actually having them levelled up enough to be able to get the missions which also reward the tokens.
Beast tribes alone won't get your the relic quickly, but combined with other methods...
be sure to have the gil or some1 to make u the HQ items...otherwise u will have 80 UNI items...and no way to advance until u get the gil or farm the mats ....
SE really outdone themselves with that step...the most annoying things in FFXIV in 1 quest , and the cherry on top 16 HQ crafted items....
