Suggestion for Novice Network system - Too many whining sprouts

Not all sprouts want to be helped, they might be a : alt, someone who is experienced in mmorpg, someone who wants to find the answers themselves etc. I think this could have been avoided, if you had introduced yourself and explained the Novice Network to them and told them that they could receive a invite, instead of sending random invites. Its like when you send random FC invites, it can be very annoying.

Anyway, I dont think you meant to anger them and your intention came from the right place. Just remember to talk with them first and depending on their answer, invite them or not.

This makes me think of that old saying, "It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission." Since the majority of the world's population is too lazy to type out explanations and requests on a regular basis. However, for those who do favor this approach I recommend a macro designed for this purpose. It should also include the command to disable NN since, honestly, if they don't want to be part of the network it's much simpler to disable it than make possibly rude "boot me" requests to players that are just trying to help with the tools they've been given.

I don't think talking to them is very realistic. There are about 30-50 new sprouts every day on our server, and very few people do the inviting. That's a lot to ask.

The easiest way to solve tihs is the have a system message upon joining the novice network explaining how to leave, or how to disable sprout status.

According to a few in our NN who are unrepentant blind inviters, won't adjust their behavior even when politely asked to, and are absolutely convinced they are doing the best thing possible for the NN, apparently yes.

I don't really invite too many sprouts, but others do it en masse. Fynlar just mentioned it and he's on my server, he knows lol
Anyway, I've seen a number of people ask how to be removed. But instead of jumping to the /nas answer, I've tried to inform them that Say chat is still available. And instruct them on how to change chat channels and how to filter their chat tabs.

A lot of mentors seem to forget that not only is there no prompt to join, but also that it automatically switches the novices chat channel to the NN. Yeah alts are one thing, but real novices may not want the network right away, they may wanna just go back to chatting with their friends.

Besides, random invites to sprouts is a good way to get those RMT sprouts inside the chat too.

Isn't it kind of ironic that novices ask for help with getting out of the channel from the very people whose help they are trying to avoid? :D

It does need a popup letting the new player decide to accept being added or not which when pops up with the confirmation to join or not also has a help window which explains what they would be joining. As can tell from my forum join date, I have been playing a long time but because I made an alt which had this new player symbol I got added to this new player chat without me having the option to refuse or accept. I do not hate or dislike the novice/new player chat system but it is common sense from a design standpoint to at least give the option to accept or decline because not all new player icon characters are actually new players and in my experience people do not check first much if the character is an alt before sending out the invite.

The same goes for fc invites we shouldn't beb surprised. Would u rather be invited instantly to a fc without a hi or hello this is my fc or would u like a introduction and a good first Impression not to mention respect?

The same goes for leafers. If u want to help them, be their friend first. If u r too shy to do so, I don't think ur cut out for inviting.

You does this thread exist again? I only see mentor issues.
