Whoa, is this true? I mean, the word billion has different number between 2 regions? Isn't this going to be confusing in the monetary or economic market?

Ditto. Never heard of this supposed Billion/Trillion confusion.

1,000 = Thousand
1,000,000 = Million
1,000,000,000 = Billion
1,000,000,000,000 = Trillion
1,000,000,000,000,000 = Quadrillion
1,000,000,000,000,000,000 = Quintillion
etc.

We DO still use the English measuring system, which is pretty sad, I'll grant you...

Billion has indeed two different meanings depending on region. And no, in practice there isn't much confusion made by it.
