What's with the lack of players that believe in themselves?

Thankfully I main on Aether... but I spent the weekend on Chaos datacenter and was utterly floored by how horrible it is. Out of the 8 runs I did while leveling SMN, 6 of them either had a DC/leave from the tank or healer and disbanded or were in-progs with no tank or healer that disbanded immediately after I joined.

I believe in myself. Just not in others. That way if you expect failure or you walk into a mess you aren't disappointed. Set expectations low.

I ran a DR leveling the other day. As my WHM. 2 green leafs in the party. The PLD was pulling 2 groups at a time. It was the craziest I've had to play my WHM. Personally didn't care for it but I kept up for the party sake.

People admitting they're new and might not perform as effectively as a result ticks you off? A tank overpulls and wipes the party, he actually admits he screwed up and adjusts himself to compensate, and this irritates you?

Dude, if this is the worst kind of behavior the DF has to offer you, you have life pretty damn good.

the stuff ive seen people fight about during DF just makes me shake my head.. other day in main roullette 2 ppl joined with thier friend who was new and tanking.. so they put markers on the ground to direct him where to go.. some ehemm in the group kept removing them when asked to stop removing them politely shit hit the fan... rest of the run was just constant fighting on party chat between him and the others lol

and it wasnt pleasant.. i said they have stated thier friend is new and they put markers to guide him where to go whats the problem with helping him that way?? the ehmm simply said if he doesnt know where to go he should go watch videos like rest of us did lol i replied he isnt the problem your attitude is so he tried vote kicking me lol

I've received a lot of support from this community and my FC for my lack of faith in my abilities. So first I want to thank all of you who have taken the time.

For me, it comes from a lot of things already mentioned by others. Low self-esteem transferring over to the game. Impressions left by the game's elite making me feel I have to be as good as they are. And having an unstable anxiety disorder definitely does not help either.

But no one places more pressure on me, than me. My mates have no clue what a wreck I am going into each new instance. I guess you have to be one of us to know.

This is very true, and I was happy that the tank didn't rip into me for screwing up. Plus, I was also pleasently surprised that he was going to adjust the pulls to where he believes my skills as a Healer were, but pushing yourself out of that comfort zone is key to building self confidence. It's all about the mindset and looking where you messed up, and fixing what you did wrong. However, as of late I've been running into more and more people that would easily give up and say "I just can't do it".

I see, let me start by saying you don't have to be as good as any elite. That's a big fat lie. Be as good as you can be, and your right my self esteem has changed alot since high school, so my usual mindset has been "I can do this" rather then questioning my abilities. So, I'm sorry if I offended you.

@bigcat, no offense taken and I think it's awesome that you're inquiring about what goes on in these crazy minds of ours. :p

It's gotten better. I was using panic, cry, and no emotes trying to back out of my first Sastasha run, which wasn't too far from what I was actually experiencing. And this was as dps. My first wipe happened in Haukke, and I was in tears and wanted to quit. More KOs and wipes have happened since, and I handle them much better thanks to the support I've received.

I try to psych myself up now. I use cheer, hug, and psych emotes to begin an instance now instead of the previous mentioned. So I am trying :)
