Favorite Job Storylines from a lore standpoint

It's going to continue to take a lot from Musketeer, it's just that it does it in the same way as Thaumaturge vs Black Mage or Archer vs Bard. The WoL Machinist is creating something new in the way that the first three Sultansworn created something new out of existing Gladiator practices.

Absolutely lvl 30-50 DRK. The final fight had me choked up the entire time combined with the music and final scene. Even though its kind of an over used plot (ergh I am my own darkness MUST NOT LOSE CONTROL!!! Anime Yada yada yada) it helps let you know that the WoL in fact doesn't like being the yes man or used by others however they just choose what's right for a hero to do.

I'm also a huge KH fan so I'm a bit biased lmao.

I was looking forward to the other story but immediately felt it lacking. Sidguru comes off like your typical shonen protagonist however I was more interested in the stories he tells like the first DRK and a bit of au ra and how they were treated.

The little girl was boring very very boring I don't even remember her name. Yes her story is a sad one but that doesn't mean she needed to be so bland -_-

SMN was decent as well although tristan was the best part out of it imo.

First priority is SCH's 60 quest. I think the battle is the toughest one than other job I made to 60. And then DRK at 50 quest (My darkside looks really handsome lol :o ).

Definitely Dark's 30-50 storyline.
MCH's wasn't bad either.
AST's was okay.
Didn't care for WHM, SCH, SMN, or BRDs stories.
I'm currently leveling BLM and the 30-50 storyline didn't interest me at all. I even skipped some of the cutscenes, something I usually don't do... :/

Mine were Gladiatior from 1-30 (felt so well put even if u are just caught in the middle of it, gota know what happens after SE plz), Pulgist 1-30 (nothing beats a good old training montage specially when the trainee re-trians the Master), Dark Knight 30-50 (herd about it, played threw it, worth every moment plz let us rechallange beaten solo instances I wanna fight myself again) & MCH all of it (giving the ability to prove those without close combat skill can help in war & makeing it so the power vacum between the have & have-nots is less by allowing the have-nots to prove they actualy arnt useless.... this and guns if a fantasy game ever lets me use a gun I so am even thou I like shields thou I still gota try & find an answer to that "hand-waving" we to when charging an attack... shacking it like a snowglobe to charge lightning crystals like 1 of those flashlights maybe, nah to stupid just change it SE plz)

Are we talking about best storylines or best stories from a lore standpoint? The DRK 30-50 was by far the best story but it didn't actually have much lore to it. It was mainly look at the WoL's own internal struggles.

If it is strictly from the lore stand point i would say the SCH. Because we finally find out the origins of the Tomberry plague and the name of the 3rd misterious black mage civilisation.

I was so dissapointed with the PLD story. I had to re watch all 50 - 60 couple times to finaly understand it. At least, we fight the PLD leader, but that only lol.
Still despite I have being a PLD for a long time, I still dont know what is the PLD's inner strenght. Wars have inner beast, DRK have the darkness. What do we have PLDs ?

Yeah, this is how I felt when I started going through the Summoner quests. There's not a whole lot of LORE but it felt like the most relevant job storyline given our antagonists. As a Black Mage I fight some rogue BLMs for my story quest. As a Summoner, I'm dealing with Ascians one on one, feels a bit more relevant.

SCH storyline so far I'm fascinated by all the Nymian history I'm learning. Same goes for WHM and Elemental lore.

I do like any good storyline, but for the sake of this thread, I meant job storylines that specifically add more to the lore. Monk sounds pretty interesting, I'll have to check that out even though I really don't enjoy playing the job much. Got it to 30 and put it away.

I'm glad others felt similar about the Sidurgu storyline. What a letdown.

I haven't actually done very many Job stories through to completion, so this is a good thread to give me ideas should I ever decide to tackle something else.

I've only done Monk and Dark Knight. And I enjoyed both! In fact, I'm genuinely curious as to why people are so down on the Sigurdu stuff; I thought it provided a fine counter-balance to the Fray story. Is it just because the latter was so meta and gritty? I am kind of generally disappointed that neither really explored the role of Dark Knights in Ishgardian society, though; there are bits and pieces out there (including the recent Lore Train!) that seem to imply that they're a known quantity, not just a couple of guys. The Sigurdu stuff gets into their supposed self-imposed role as the counter-balance to the corruption within Ishgardian knighthood right at the end, but I really would have liked to have seen or heard about more of that in either storyline.

Dark Knight 30-50 was the most enjoyable thing I've done in this game and just when I thought it couldn't get any better.....it doesn't, because it get's annihilated by a boring and uneventful slog that had very little to do with actually being a dark knight.
