As long as its disabled in DF Im ok either way of it coming to 14 or not.
I'd certainly pay that much for it if I could wander Eorzea in VR.
>_> But with our current VR gaming technology (oculus, htc etc), couldn't you technically get exactly the same experience right now by just hitting the 1st person button, but you know, for free? Seeing as thats pretty much where we're at for gaming atm.
Besides, a game like XIV isn't tailored to VR. You need awareness of everything around you and plenty of people have trouble with that as it is!
I was laughing at the concept of this game using VR though too.

Let's see how the games are first.
As awesome as SAO and the .Hack series are MMOs, as they currently are, are really not ideal for VR.
Not that I could use that anyway. I'm easily prone to headaches and migraines within minutes of just looking at the 3d effects of a 3ds. VR is simply out of the question for me.
An article I read (or blog post or something - can't quite remember where I saw it) said the writer got queasy from the tech demo of the Titan fight in VR. And I suspect most people would have to limit VR to relatively short sessions, even if they're not overly sensitive to it. We're likely still several system generations away from a VR platform that could be used as the primary means of accessing a game that might be played for several hours.
But for those who can handle it (at least for short periods), boy would those be some cool short periods.
It's part of why I wouldn't care whether it's well suited for combat or not. If I were only briefly playing in VR and then playing to the TV screen the rest of the time anyway, I'd reserve the VR for when I'm traveling through the open world, where the virtual reality can add to the immersion of the game.
(I can handle the 3D of a 3DS, but 3D movies sometimes give me headaches. I figure that probably means I could handle VR if I limited it to under half an hour or so at a time and nothing too fast moving or flashy.)
