It's not that anyone sees anything wrong with it, it's that your argument has been "I don't like how some people are using it, so just remove it," which is a stance that perfectly fits your forum name.
I will agree that any text entered into the /em command should be subject to the profanity filter when need be, but as I stated before, you don't remove a feature that 90% of the population uses harmlessly just because of the 10% that doesn't. Sometimes systems just need to be tweaked, not removed altogether when they don't work.
