Yeah, SE really screwed crafters on this one.
Materials to make the crafted gear sets are now next to impossible to obtain, and the token gear sets are third rate at best.

They only drop in the final boss chest of the dungeon. None before, none of the additional chests.
From those patch notes I expected these to drop as commonly as crafting mats in lv50 dungeons, so every run. Supply would have swelled from non-crafters obtaining them when doing roulettes and listing them on the market, quickly bringing prices down to a nice level. Wouldn't have been too generous I think... the master 170 doh/dol is 9 months old and there are different sets for each class to complete so it would still be a big effort even with cheap materials on the marketplace.
I had a moonbeam silk drop in diadem. I went in with a team of 6 gatherers and someone had it appear. Didnt think to take a ss as proof, sorry
If they made direct drops too common, it would trivialize favors.
I've still not seen any crafting materials in lvl60 dungeons yet. I've done quite a few. Lots of petrified logs from lvl50 dungeons though. ~_~
You used to be able to buy them with tomes. That is considerably easy compared to favors.
Eh, not really? 1800 law got you one of an item you needed 5 of to do anything with. If you were just trying to grind out these items, favors were still loads faster. The effect of making them purchaseable with law was really just to give combat-only players a law sink and gil stream while deflating the price of the mats a little. Adding them to the 60 dungeons feels like they're trying to keep that same purpose in mind, so they probably made them rare so they'd flow into the economy at a similar rate.
