1. First order of business for the empire would be to kill you. Yes. No "I want to join you guys, let's not fight"; the Garleans have made clear they want to eradicate every beasttribe and everyone possessing the ability to speak to them (thanks, echo). Sure, you may go to them with your peace flag up, but their war is pretty ideologically driven, just like Thordan's war. On the odd chance that you survive (because, let's face it, the WoL is way too overpowered already), you'd slaughter your way out, no becoming friends there.
2. Alphi gets better. The whole 2.5 story taught him a lot and 3.0 even more. He IS growing up, and considering he is still a young teen he is actually surprisingly mature for his age. Most 14-16 year olds I know only think about getting drunk everyday with a bit of finding a better partner to have sex with + doing all sorts of stupid things to "discover themselves". Alphi on the other hand tries his best to save the whole fucking world...give the guy some credit.
3. I have trouble taking someone serious who wants to dropkick one person because she dislikes her CLOTHES and the other because he isn't a super experienced, seasoned leader at 15 :rolleyes:

One word... fanboys XD No, I just don't like either character because of how USELESS they are. Min gets herself captured like Princess Peach and is utterly useless.
Not EVERYONE playing the game wants to be the hero. I just think the Empire is the cooler faction and in the real world, they would dominate the primitive other races on the planet if it wasn't for magic.
You have wannabe pirates, tree huggers and sand people... yeah I think they could handle that. -

I don't feel Minfilia deserves the negative lashings she gets. From a combat perspective (Which is where I think the majority of players feel she's useless) she may not have use, but she's a competent leader from a story telling perspective with a ton of ties and strong influence with many others. There's more to a diplomatic war than just punching and kicking.

I am not overly fond of them either. But what can you do... If you don't want to consider them your character's friends, then don't. I certainly don't.
One of the two characters I actually liked, they killed. :C And the illusion of choice in games is exactly that - an illusion.
They are taking the story in the direction they want it to go. It makes you all feel different things? That is exactly the purpose of it. It was a success.
And also, I don't know how far into MSQ you have gotten, I have a feeling this is a rant of someone who hasn't done the Heavensward intro quests.
