I recently replayed through the game on an alt - and there is certainly a sense of wonder and beauty when you're required to travel by mount or on foot. But that novelty quickly (VERY QUICKLY) wears off. By the time I hit the 2.1 content, I was tired and ready to just be able to teleport back and forth to my quest destinations. I still like to stop and just visit locations in game sometimes and appreciate their beauty and the scope of the world - but long travel can and does get tiring for many players who just want to quickly hop in somewhere and get some content done on a limited time schedule.

Not teleporting looks great in an MMO anime. Sadly in real life it just doesn't seem too fun to walk everywhere.

If SE dedicated some time for chocobo flying paths and removing the teleport. Yes it will be much more immersive.
However since its already there, you can just guess how many people will whine for removing teleport.
-
Oh trust me. Teleportation will seem less of an immersion breaker when you see the flying turtle (and eventually Fenrir and possibly tank mounts).

i used to use the choco porter a lot when i was questing, there was a sense of adventure when runing the zones the first time.
but once i started gathering i found the teleport a must sadly, there was no way i would get around between unspoiled nodes in wine port and the end of cortheas without teleport.
and now its even worse in hw the unspoiled only stays up for 1 erozian hour which is around 2 min and 55s , there is no way to gather anything related to collectables unless u use teleports.
while i like the idea of less teleports, i think the way it is now its a must for gathers

When travelling distances too short to Teleport ((Heading to Whitebrim anyone?)) I usually just set it to auto run and read something while course correcting via the corner of my eye. I've seen these routes before. I haven't been hit with amnesia between now and the dozen times I've ran the route while it was still novel hundreds of trips ago. It wouldn't be any different if I had to run from Camp Tranquil to Camp Overlook.

I'm a FFXI player too and yes, walking around gives a better immersion, BUT this MMORG can't fit that experience.
We need fast-traveling i order to achieve stuff such as gathering or hunting.
Sometimes I go back to old maps and take some walks for lore reasons, and that's cool, but I don't want to be forced to spend the 80% of my gameplay just walking around on the same places over and over again.

meh traveling in mmorpgs is ok once , twice at most...then is just a way to wasted time and keep u subbed.... dying alone in the middle of a zone before finishing an important quest? , back to city and travel back (30~min) ...if u can only play 2h every other day ....25% of time is wasted just traveling (not having any fun or advancing in anyway)...
teleports and fast travel have existed in mmorpgs (videogames) since the begining , hell even old games that u were unable to "save" , got passwords so u were able to enter that the next day and continue playing even if that means starting the stage....others didnt even have that and u had to start again and again....

Considering how of often quests sends us back-and-forth between different zones (not to mention hunts etc.), I would say teleport is pretty much a necessity in FFXIV. Travel by foot or chocobo is certainly possible, but one would very quickly become tired of travelling the same routes over and over again.

Limited teleport wouldn't work in FFXIV, there's no "world" so to speak, it's all zoned. It works in WoW because you can get on a flying mount and fly to your destination easily without zoning, it works in Black Desert Online because the game was literally built with the lack of fast travel in mind and also has an auto pathing option. It just won't work in FFXIV, if teleporting ruins your immersion the loading screens wouldn't be any better for you.
