End Game- What is considered a lot of Gil?

I had 30m this week. My wife has around 100m. We are both omni crafters though and spend a lot of time gathering. So if you put effort into it, you can have a lot. But I used to sit around 2m before I picked up crafting. If you don't "need" gil I wouldn't bother. Most things in game can be acquired by other means (gear).

I was wondering this myself. I'm level 47 but been leveling my miner at the same time which is only 10 levels behind. So I be gathering like crazy and selling everything. The server I'm on, no idea if the pop is "high" but all the houses are brought out and would love to get one when more plots come, whenever that patch drops. But seems I need at least 3-5 mil for a small plot then 10+ for anything bigger. Which I'm making gil to a point fine, but trying to make 10mil before this patch drops doesn't seem within reach. Unless it's not going to drop for awhile.

I am sitting around 55M gil as of today. Although I probably had made around 100M within the last three months but spent a lot on some equipment upgrades for my gathers which was around 30M and on a small house and furnishings that I managed to snag which is around 20M all together. All that money was basically earned through a whole lot of gathering. I only gather certain items which I know sell quite well and quickly so it makes it a lot easier :)

I've reached the 999,999,999 gils, but I think around 20M it's a lot of gils, i mean besides repair, teleport, and some glamour, gils are pretty useless (if you don't craft ofc).

If you craft, you can make your raid supplies. :v

I lost a bit of gil transferring servers when the European ones got moved (October?), made back to 20 mil or so, burned all of that on a medium house on Christmas, and now am back at 11mil without really trying. My little project the past few months was crafting log completion (getting the check next to all non-housing items), so selling those items and quick ventures boosted me back.

Dunno if I'd call it a lot though. I generally don't spend much gil outside of teleports... but it was nice to have gil on hand for the house.

Most people i see max out at 5M and that is alot for them. alot of people don't even come near 1M

Well, I guess I can give you a rough estimate of how much you will need if you want to participate in everything gil related.

Including:
Housing (medium or large on average server)
Crafting and gathering gear
Materials for crafting that you cannot obtain yourself (these cost a ton sometimes)
Materia and penta-melding
Relic related messes
Glamours (The good stuff costs quite a bit)
Raid gearing of one, maybe 2 jobs

50 million gil and a small, but reliable, source of income to be perfectly safe on gil related matters forever... maybe.
This little tally is a rough estimate taking into account my experience and struggles with gil on a "poor" NA server, where everything is rather pricey.

I have 12M, a small house, and paid a bunch for making my relic weapon.

I'm comfortable with my wealth.

In Eorzean PoV, we know that to be in the rich group you need something arround 3,000,000,000 gil (beast tribe last quests). So... That would be a lot of gil. Depending on the server, probably anything between 300-400 millions is the rich group. Midcores go as low as 30-40 and the people "in poberty" is probably under 2 mill, which is already quite a lot based on "expenses".

Gil isn`t much of a resource, is more of an score, probably any or all midcore-hardcore crafter have already more than enough gil to literally retire from crafting and have enough gil to pay for their expenses for years to come. Im actually thinking about doing just that, instead of keep suffering on the horrid MB status and keep persuing a carrot i will never catch... I have more than enough gil for ages, i can steadily produce between 4 to 6 mill weekly on very basic crafting (not even 1 star lol) and i have 2 houses... Time to retire and start leveling that fisher.
