Do you have data for this? Of course not, because it's all just unfounded nonsense. There is still nothing to do. I agree with you OP. And as you said, the ones whining are mostly the ones not playing, or just coming back after a "break" and disappointed. And you know what? I'm tired of people who leave and then come back on patches expecting the game to be adjusted for them, and if it's not, they leave again and/or whine in the forums about it. I'd rather stay ingame and enjoy what they gave us together with friends who do the same thing.
And guess what, I don't know if you guys (the whiny ones) realized that you aren't forced to do the new relic. It's completely optional. Don't like it? Don't do it o_O Just like everything else. I enjoy it, many like me enjoy it too and I'm grateful to SE. Keep up the good work! For once something that won't be dated content after a week or the classic "2 deaths = kick, no bonus" in party finder.
You are disappointed? Too much work? There, see this option under System in the menu? Yeah that one, the last one on the list, "exit game", go click it ^_^

I personally dont have an issue with most stuff with the new relic, like for instance the FATE grind. I'm in a rather small FC and its nice to have more of a reason to do something while getting some FC points. Dungeon parts cool to, although its going to be possible painful on DPS once the newness of relic wears off. I do have an issue with the last part though. They plan on releasing 3.2 sometime in Feb. Doing the math, say you play for 5 hours a day, and just do dungeons (i'm not taking into account any other method, and excluding daily roulette's) it will take a minimum of 540 hours total, or 108 days. That will end up being different if you are on for longer, or less time a day. There's around 2 months until potential ilvl 220 weapons come out. I plan on gettin at least one of these finished at some point, just seems like it might take a lot longer than I thought it would. So you will end up not being finished before the 220 weapons come out, making this step almost pointless. This just seems to be alot more of a grind than any other part of the original quest line. Busy work meant to keep us busy and paying for the game for months, most people that play will pay no matter what like me lol, hope this isnt taken the wrong way, just tossing my 2 cents around ^_^

I really wish this was released at an earlier date, like when alex normal was released. I have ran that over 1000 times. Now I could potentially have to run it 600 times more LoL, that's not good, be different if I wanted gear from there but in all honesty I have like 4 sets of gear from there.

Pretty much this.

I get that you may like the quest, and that's fine but you don't get to tell people what they should and shouldn't give feedback on when they're paying for the product.

Objectively speaking the relic quest isn't even that bad, it really isn't. But it isn't new or innovative content and the fact that it was delayed multiple times for what we're seeing (which is all old content) is making many players wonder "why?" or "What were they doing this whole time"

This is your opinion but quantity doesn't mean quality, and what players are complaining about is the quality of the content, and yes thats in comparison to other subscription based MMOs, if this game were a F2P game I'm sure you would see a lot less complaints as the expectations would be a lot lower.

The main problem here is people are expecting more from Heavensward. When a game is great it provides fun and innovative gameplay that people weren't expecting, but this grind is what most people were expecting (super grindy with nothing new) but they did that and even made it worse. When a game is going BELOW peoples expectations something is fundamentally wrong. Defend FFXIV all you want and discredit people like myself who genuinely love this game and have been around since before launch but the fact remains that this is not helping push the game forward at all. I want to see this game succeed and innovate as a leader in a realm of dying MMOs by providing fun new things so personally just hoping that being vocal here might actually get the devs to notice and I am sure there are many others feeling the same way. Discrediting peoples valid points and concerns about the quality of the content they are providing isn't going to help anything.

The quantity of salt for this relic is much higher than the levels of salt for previous relics, part of it is from lingering disappointment in other aspects of the game the other part is SE's fault for mismanaging expectations. You can't admit to making relics too grindy and then make them even grindier. The mood in game is more pleasant at the moment, but a lot of people in the game haven't fully grasped how grindy the new relic is, the people on the forums have already looked up that information.

If we continue to pretend to be happy and don't make our displeasure known, how else will SE know that certain segments of their population do not find their content fun or exciting?

What is wrong is not that they give their opinion on content, what is wrong is the incredibly hysterical way it is done in.
I'm by no means saying the relic quest is perfect, there are quite a few things about it that I dislike as well, but the problem is that a constructive discussion is no longer possible with the way people are acting.

I might as well make a new rule for myself. Instead of the old "Never play on patchday." one, I'll go with "Never visit the forums of a game on patchday." ;)

It must mean they haven't reached the most fun part of the Relic quest line. ^__^
