I personally like the combat stance, I don't know where people get the idea that it is not very defensive. The pose is hugely defensive, you look like you're ready to cast healing/defensive spells.
The shown in the OP is a split second pose after casting Aero 3 >.>, why are people talking about that one and not the one that you hold your staff out with?

I agree. White mages is not made for combat but they are usually making sure that they are aware of the danger in the battlezone, especially when looking upon their party members and see who needs the healing and such so, in any occasion they tend to focus and be ready to cast the cure and escape the danger.
The non-combat stance makes look them as a vulnerable prey as they get aggro fast If you notice that when you cast some spell before combat the enemies will come right after you also that is why you also have the enmity reducer so the tank is ready to take over that. And it is pretty cool when we tend to look innocent in the zone so especially the female mages. so hawt! :)

Yes please! I just started working on my WHM again, and I completely agree. I use the idle pose, because I hate the combat pose. Even then, the idle pose's smile looks super weird. I'd be all for a new WHM pose, and this one looks cool.

To clarify it, it was about combat pose, not idle change pose. c:
