Levelling your first class even with MSQ I think actually takes longer than any of the classes after it. If you have food, an fc for the exp buff, and have some rested exp saved up, you can go from 1-50 in a single weekend if you really wanted. 50-60 was made faster with 3.1 now that the heavensward dungeons give better exp, not sure how long they would take now but it took me a week on smn waiting on dps queues (everything else was spread out just doing my roulettes so I cant use them to judge time taken).
You only need to get to 10 to switch to rogue (providing you start in limsa, otherwise you'll have to reach it first obviously) and whatever your highest class is is the one that wont have the armory bonus. Anything lower lvl will get increased exp. Just start as pugilist, get it to 15 so you have that ready to unlock ninja later, then go to limsa and unlock rogue.
Why would you not have any Armoury bonus? The Armoury bonus you get any time your current class is not your highest level class. (Counting only Disciples of War/Magic, not crafting/gathering classes)
So if you start as Pugilist, get it to level 15, and then switch to Rogue/Ninja and get Ninja to level 50 and then switch back to Pugilist - you will first get an Armoury bonus while leveling Rogue from level 1-14 (since you have Pugilist at level 15), and also get the bonus when you switch back to Pugilist (since then you will have Ninja at a higher level.)
Leveling is fairly easy if you fate/dungeon farm. I leveled Dragoon from 35 to 50 after a 7-10 hour marathon of fates. What? Don't look at me like that. It was fun! :|
I personally started with MRD, got it to 20-something, dabbled a bit in PGL, and then worked on DRG for the rest of MSQ in ARR.
It wasn't particularly bad, except DPS queues were slow sometimes.
Sorry for the odd wording - blame it on me writing this at 1AM my time and trying to meet the 1000 character limit.
This is what I was confused about. I thought the Armoury bonus applied to every class other than your first, not every class at a lower level than your highest one. Since originally the first class I chose was my first 50, I never paid much attention to it before. Thank you for explaining that, though. ^^;
exp doesnt become an issue until you start levelling your 4th or 5th class to 50, and HW is always gonna be a grind. When I was on trial period i got 8 of the 9 classes to 20 within about 10 days, which is when I bought the game.
Just glad I can help. Also, don't worry about that character limit for forum posts. It disappears when you edit your post, so the common thing to do is to type your post out fully, copy it, then put a placeholder, (mine is "TO BE EDITED MOMENTARILY"), and simply replace that placeholder with your full post when you edit it.....
