The possibilities... O_O
I want my botanist look to be exclusive to being a botanist. I'm okay with everything else but I think AF gear should continue to stay exclusive to the job.
Maybe we don't have to go as far as "AFs" (JSE) for now.
It would be great though if there wasn't any glamour restrictions on other non-job-iconic gear sets such as the Arachne/Wootz/Chimerical/Serpentskin sets to name a few.
For example, the Arachne Bolero was modeled for casters. When HW released, MNKs (of all things) got this style available to them too. BRDs and MCHs suddenly have a new set that looks like the Pligrim's gear, and suddenly even mages have access to an off-colored Shikaree set.
Clearly the potential for older styles being opened up to more jobs/classes is already there. As healer, I always wanted to glamour the Bolero piece, so not only was I confused, but a little upset that MNKs got access to that style. Sure, healers have the Archne robe, but it's not quite the same (it's a robe...) Am I going to be confused when I see a MNK with a Bolero body piece and think they're a caster? No, and majority of the players won't because we have enough common sense to look at the job icons on our party list first when we enter a dungeon. I'm willing to give a pass on DoW/DoM AF causing that, but everything else (including DoL/H, since they could never even get in a dungeon) is fairly unfounded paranoia.
Agreed, and yes please! You're example with the specific DoH/DoL and then the multi DoW/DoM is perfect.
When he said that I had a mixture of emotions, ranging from confusion to aggravation... it's outlandish and downright stupid. It's also why I get extremely sarcastic when posting about multi-classing class gear - "I'd get so confused to the point of insanity... a WHM wielding a... lance... I can't handle it, what class is he, he isn't healing and his symbol indicates an unknown class!!!!" - and so on.
Do they really think such stupidity exists?
I would still love the labcoat glamour :D
There are a lot of unique gloves/boots/headgear that would look amazing on other jobs and when mixed right they make some really nice glamour (try it out for yourself using the Save Equipment function via "Try On").
I didn't mention it in the OP but the one job that would greatly benefit from this would be the Machinist. There isn't a lot of glamours you can use to get that Machinist or Mechanic feel for your Machinist glamour outside Ironworks/Artifact Machinist gear/And a few Crafting Doublets.
I provided an example of a MCH glamour in the OP using the Miners body. You could probably come up with some neat themed glamours with the Blacksmith or Armorer jobs as well.
