About the Warrior of Darkness.. theories? (spoiler-ish??)

This is sort of verging on a parallel universe theory though. It's possible, I admit. I just personally think Derplander is more of a vague concept of a character than a fleshed out character involved in the story. I suppose we'll find out when we get more of his group's backstory.

I can buy that they might be the CG WoL since it was said WoL appear in the cusp of an Umbral Era. If that's the case were does the legacy WoL come into the equation?

I am of the opinion that these are the same WoLs from 1.0 that were mentioned early in 2.0 but were forgotten by everyone (except the legacy woL) why they remained forgotten, who knows? Ascian magic perhaps or they just choose not to involve themselves with people anymore and focus on Primals.

Im almost certain they aren't primals. Y'shtola literally sees with the Aether now and has a heightened sensitivity to it. If they were primals she would have noticed in a second.

Plus at least the WAR seemed to have the Echo which doesn't seem to match what we know of primals.

If the WoD has chosen a different path, but is still good, why would he attack us straightaway? It doesn't really striking me as a friendly behaviour. I mean, if we're doing something wrong than wouldn't it be more reasonable to talk to us first before swinging an axe trying to kill us?

On a sidenote, i just realized that for some people who created an exact copy of a derplander from the CGIs it was a doppelganger like I thought it would be for everyone xD

I agree with this, too. Near the end of A realm reborn and even early in Heavensward people resented us for being so willing to follow the Scions without question. To interfere with people lives and how we're really just an unthinking puppet. The DRK quest line pretty much highlights this though as well, our character does resent being used and helping all these people sometimes.

Afterall, there have been other Echo users that have joined the Asciens. It's been repeated alot of time that Hydaelyn isn't as what she seems and Minifilia's group of echo users in 1.0 all discovered something terrible about the echo (but they won't let us know, lol). Lastly, even Elidibus said that if we knew the truth that if we and Minfillia will join the Asciens.

But unless Jerklander has always been that way, I can't understand his unpleasant personality change. That and I don't think they were planning on killing us (probably just the scions), just testing out the WoL's strength

Maybe we are a puppet for Hydaelyn and Jerklander et al found out and we can imagine their bitterness.

Personally, I think they're gonna pull and XI-Wing-of-the-Goddess mixed with some III and...

...have it where there are two worlds/time-lines that are fighting to defend there existence, each with their own crystal and Ascian organization infiltrating the other world. The Ascian the Warriors of Darkness were fighting was on our side , while the Ascians we fight are on theirs. I theorize that our Ascians maybe named/are the Twelve +1 more (like Eldibus), like how the Ascians we face are named after XII's Scions of Light.

Since they (the Warriors of Darkness) are close replicas of the cyphers used for advertising purposes (and these characters have been used from the very end of 1.0), my take is that they originate from a reality where Zodiark is in the ascendancy over Hydaelyn. They went through all the same trials as the player character in 1.0 against the Garleans and taking part in the battle of Cartenau, but their world has always been a polar opposite in terms of light/dark balance. If Elidibus is truly concerned that light and dark need to be put into some kind of parity, then that reality where Zodiark is dominant would need to be taken down a peg or two as well. Of course, this relies on the two realities conflicting with each other in some way, and would probably need us to go there to take some points back for alt-Hydaelyn.

One possible motive is that Elidibus is not actually that concerned with it, however. In this scenario, he's dressing his own agenda up in terms that seam reasonable (at least to someone like Urianger who keeps an open mind) in order to hide his true intentions as long as possible, which would be darkness everywhere. He keeps a lot of pieces in play, and the Warriors of Darkness are just the latest.

The other is that he genuinely is concerned for balancing the two worlds, and the story will play out with Urianger falling into hot water with the rest of the Scions once Alisae reveals his supposed "treachery".

Honestly, that was similar to one of my musings as well, with alternate versions of characters we know playing an opposite role, like Minfillia still leading the Scions and normal in our perception, but being Lilith-styled and antagonistic in the perception of the WoDs. And by musing I mean forlorn hope that is totally not happening, ever, but I want it to in one of those not-serious-theory type ways, if that makes sense.

If Minfillia is Lillith, then what about your player character in our theoretical WotG equivalent?

That Ascian was intentionally unnamed despite most other major Ascians you've encountered - and not encountered, like Pashtarot and Emmeroloth - being named in cutscenes.

But yeah, I don't expect it to happen, just a sort of playful guess. It would be odd to use the same plot twist. Right? Right?

I'm not even going to get into my serious theories yet, ha.

But then where do Legacy players stand? Everyone remembers them as the Warrior of Light from 1.0's scenario at the end of A Realm Reborn's main story.

I have some theories involving the Warriors of Darkness and the Ascians, but one of them involves alternate dimensions of Eorzea and I hope to god I'm wrong because stuff like that gets confusing as all hell if done even slightly incorrectly.
