I fail to see how this has anything to do with "defining a role".
Regardless, player customization > some mystical "defining a role". I earned the gear; I should be able to glamour it however I want.

Which is why I ask for light steel ___ for glamour options
Starting 3.1 this will be possible:

Let's also not forget the Woad, Orthodox and Sharlayan and more gear that are just merely pallet swaps of each other. Some mage gear already already have light (steel?) plating to them like the Gordian and Law sets. Odin also gives a full gauntlet of mages.
If I had to take a very wild guess, I would say: The weapon?
You know, the thing that can't be glamoured into anything but another weapon of that type? The one thing that if exchanged causes our class and thus role to shift? The thing that defines our skills...?
Everything else is, like, irrelevant. You can make a caster in a light steel Galerus + Subligar, a tank in a skimpy outfit that offers no protection, a tank in robes, a DPS in a tuxedo. And you can glamour everything in crafting gear, the adept's thighboots being one of the more popular options these days. If heavy armor truly defines the tank role, then they most definitely should not be allowed to glamour anything but. And that would suck.
I'm a healer, but some more armor for us would be a nice change, especially some gauntlets. Currently I have the Aurum Regis Sollerets of Healing glamoured (which resemble heavier armor, going against what SE said previously), but it's a bummer there aren't any gauntlets to match (at least not any that go past the elbow and hide puffy sleeves). Tanks can glamour low level robes if they wish, so it's only fair that casters start getting some more options, at least imo.
I broke down in a fit of confusion and tears when I had to fight Unei and Doga clones in ST for the first few hundred times... I mean... they were wearing tank gear yet casting magic... my mind was utterly melted from confusion.
Same for when I saw Yda fighting as what I thought was a DRG... as she had... the tank and dragoon sabatons on... it wasn't until two hundred hours later I realized she was punching this whole time!
If you didn't notice, this is colossal sarcasm, and when Yoshi stated "we don't want people getting confused" I thought to myself "gee, he must think us right idiot's if we can't pick a role out via WEAPONS and ANIMATIONS or EFFECTS" but then I laughed as I realized he was only joking (right?).
Sorry if that comes off, overly sarcastic, but this whole reasoning along with that response from Yoshi is baffling... I'm sure any class can wear a suit of light armour without people breaking down in hysterics and asking a server what class they were.
