Scholar rant.

I wouldn't macro embrace to all of my dps skills, IMO that is very bad. Instead if you want to embrace someone while dpsing, i suggest make a separate embrace mouse over macro, and you can dps while pressing it (the macro will be like oGCD to you). Or you can make a macro to embrace tank 1 or tank 2 for like 10 secs continuously too.

Edit: NVM, misunderstood your original post xD Well if you can't spamming skills that much then may be whm or ast easier (?). Good luck though :D

Isn't the OP diverting his/her frustrating to the wrong direction? If you hate playing Scholar THAT much, tell your group. If they don't feel like changing jobs themselves just so they can play on on the jobs they want, find another group. Looking at the excalibur forum, there's actually a demand for tanks - Although at least half of them are for warriors, from the looks of it.

That defeats the purpose of playing with friends of mine. I just don't like the damn micromanaging. And I don't play Warrior. -_-

Basically it's heal or find another group or quit. I like these guys, and I'll quit before I find another group. I'm mostly ranting at the fact that the micromanaging is pissing me off.

I have *never* played a game where I had to do this much micromanaging as a healer. Or a DPS for that matter, and I've played pet classes there, too. Blech.

Would switching to the "other healer Job" be a suitable alternative? I see you have AST level and it seems like you're leveling WHM as well. Just because SCH is "the most optimal in theory" doesn't mean it's the most optimal for your group if you hate playing the job that much.

I wouldn't recommend this macro. It breaks and won't work the next time you need it if you use any macros in that 1 second space. A more robust macro would be:

/pac Steady
/pac Guard
/pac Fey Wind

In regards to the OP's question about Embrace, my method is to use three castings of Embrace separated by 1 second waits:

/pac Embrace
/wait
/pac Embrace
/wait
/pac Embrace

You can incorporate this into other macros, such as a combined Physick+Embrace macro.

If you use multiple casts like this, it automates the button mashing for you, but you will have to get out of the habit of changing targets between the tank and boss. For example, if you put multiple casts on an attack macro with <tt>, throw an attack on the boss, then switch back to the tank, then those trailing <tt> commands will be telling Eos to heal the boss, which means to heal herself.

What I would recommend doing is set up attack macros so you can camp on the tank as your target and use Embrace spam macros safely. Here is my typical attack macro:

/ac Bio <t>
/ac Bio <f>
/ac Bio <tt>

Putting <f> in there allows you to designate a target for DoTs + Bane without any issues.

No one else wants to. Nor do I think anyone but our MNK has a healer job leveled, but he's our best DPS so that ain't happening.

In fact, the AST didn't want to heal either, he was normally BLM. Problem is, they couldn't keep healers to save themselves.

I feel you, I really, really feel you.

I've been trying to play SCH with mixed results, and I've come to the conclusion recently that the fact I need to DPS is what's consistently throwing me off in AS1 (which I've yet to clear). SCH's healing style of shields is actually starting to grow on me, but I just can't manage it alongside DPSing. If healing was all I required to do, I'd probably be perfectly fine.

The healing meta right now sucks. Really, really sucks. I've started leveling AST, as out of the three healing jobs, they have the least pressure to DPS right now, partly because the have less mana for it and partly because they can indirectly contribute to DPS through their cards.

Really, the developers screwed up with SCH, and also SMN, and they themselves have admitted this. For instance, they were well aware SMN was having issues back in 2.x, but could do little about it at the time because of the very real risk of making SCH overpowered. They had to wait for 3.0 and the raising of level cap, allowing them to add job abilities to bring SMN up to par. You can kinda see the reasoning behind the initial development: Although SCH branched off from a DPS class, its DPS abilities would be much less useful because SCH specs into Mind instead of Intelligence. However, again by their own admission, they didn't count on people exploiting Cleric Stance. Cleric Stance had been intended to allow healer jobs to do solo activites such as quests and leves on their own, and they didn't expect players to actually utilize it for group activities.

What I was asking if it would be better for you to switch to the "other healer Job" and I left it that way since I wasn't quite sure if you were running SCH/AST or SCH/WHM. Since I know you're running AST can try to go AST/WHM. Again, just because SCH is most optimal in theory doesn't mean it's most optimal for your group dynamic, so the change might be for the better.
