Nothing special about housing.

I think you completely missed the point about player housing. It's the same point that practically all games that sport such a feature have in making it. It's the same reason why most players go out of their way to get it. Let's just say practical use isn't always why people do things. I bet you wonder why people play games like Animal Crossing, or more specifically, the spinoff game that was just released about being a home maker.

Do you care at all about how your character looks? Gear, physique, race, etc. If you answer yes to anything visual, guess what... you're playing ken and barbie.

The problem is you not wanting to join an fc. Not with housing.

They did it in FFXI without housing for a group it was done pretty well and stuff outside which treated everyone as equals not cut others out of the game because you don't possess curtain things.

Tell me they aren't doing that here? Cause I see it a lot.

You're right about there being some benefits over others for being accepting of social circles. That's... life? Dunno what to tell you on that. When you put arbitrary restrictions upon yourself that hinder your wants or accessibility, there's no one to blame but yourself. Someone not having access to FC related benefits because they want to be the lone wolf is no different than someone who wants to be that lone wolf and still clear all content in the game without others. Just not gonna happen legitimately.

I wouldn't really call it a waste of money.


I made a fortune selling Thavnarian Onions, Glazenuts, and Chocobo Feed from 2.x Gardening. Made even more selling Grade IV Materia, Dusk Leather, Iron Giant Cores, and Airship materials from Airship ventures in 3.0 (66 Gathering IV Materia in a single airship trip.) Not to mention buying and selling plots themselves was extremely profitable. Buying Mediums for 16mil selling for 30mil etc.


Monetary value aside it's nice having a market board, summoning bell, FC chest, mog mail, Grade 6 Dark Matter, low level crafting mats, and an NPC to sell stuff at within 20 meters of your personal teleport. There's a lot of convenience that shouldn't be taken for granted. Getting to an Uldahn market board is kind of a chore. Those who live in The Goblet have that market board in their front yard. And sure playing Barbie and Ken may not be for everyone but your opinion of role playing doesn't make the system invalid.


Housing is a great avenue for people with creativity and great imaginations to have fun in. A private, customizable, location on the server where you can hang out in with buddies is far more valuable than minions, mounts, and raid gear in my opinion. A real complaint would be how poorly they managed Housing at it's release. This topic sounds more like a bitter complaint towards lack of housing availability.

To me the OP sort of came off as, "I can't have a house, so I'm going to make fun of people who have one."

Players don't just use housing for the literal features. Roleplayers use houses for obvious reasons. FC's like to have places to get together. Some people enjoy furnishing the house. In my old FC I had a member who spent weeks crafting and furnishing our house and he loved every minute of it, so much that he bought his own house. Others purely like the statement of owning a house. I think your post is very self opinionated as I know a lot of people who love housing and not just for the reasons you stated.

Tend to agree with most of this except it allowing creativity and imagination because currently the design allows for none of that. Its mindless and doesnt require nor inspire player creativity or imagination. The possible lolcombos with the furniture are embarrassing and extremely limiting. se rates 1/10 on creativity and player interaction.

But i agree gardening perk can have purpose for making gil and the other perks that are attached to it are ok (just not the actually "building" of.....anything.)

OP try to purchase a private home if availability is ever there again, if you prefer not to join a fc thats pretty much your last option for the time being.
