I want to ride in the airships my FC has crafted.

To my knowledge the Boat ride/Airship ride is just another loading instance that appeared every 15mins, stayed for 5 (for loading or unloading people) then a 5 minute visual ride to the new location, so they wouldn't really have to rework anything, just simply piece there map together and have it visually pleasing to look down....or go the cheap route and only have clouds.

Which thinking about now, we kinda already got with Bismark. Just replace the combat with an airship setting, let it stay for 5-10mins (say perhaps when traveling to the new location that is in need for airships?) Then simply fade to black, load character in the airship port.

I don't believe it would be worth giving up teleports for a rather poor implementation of airship travel, I want to feel like I'm actually traveling the world, seeing it below and all. I'm not sure Eorzeans travel to other continents, but airships could be used for that in the future like you described. They could even turn it into a trial each time you wanted to travel to the other continent and you have to fend off monsters (that was the best part of ArcheAge), but people would complain of course.

It does seem odd to introduce airships early on only to never use them once you unlock each capital's aetheryte, I guess if you were cheap and didn't want to spend money on teleports but gil flows like candy from roulettes which everyone would be doing regardless.

I kinda think it was either left over from 1.0, or was an idea to be taken from 11 but was changed. I can't say for sure on 1.0 as I never got to try it.

That reason is PS3. I hope that when they drop support, they'll go back and fix things so stuff like this is possible.

I would like our FC Airships to at least be visable. None in the FC including the people who contributed to them have ever even gotten to see them except for the handful who handle sending the Airships out.

Even a PS3 can handle it if SE do the airship ride like the ferry ride during 1.x

I think the only reason why the ferry ride got removed in ARR was because the playerbase couldn't handle the wait time before and during the ride.

Waiting for the sake of waiting is never appealing but if you mix some kind of content such as sky monsters then it becomes something totally different.

Yeah, until you fight them for the billionth time with your overpowered gear.

I know for a fact they said not only will we fly it and control it, but that it will require multiple people and doing different roles. As in one will manage steering, another fuel, etc...i will find the interview where they said this later.

I really hope they aren't changing this -_-

Which is stupid. We already have teleports for people who want to get somewhere instantly... It's really a pathetic excuse when paired with something like Chocobo Porters, too... Those certainly aren't instant, granted you don't have to wait for the Chocobo to arrive before you get to ride it. Not like they couldn't just make it optional, too... Buy a ticket, "Do you want to wait? Y/N", done.

The Ferry ride would have been a perfect Fishing spot, too... Heck, so would Airship rides, considering Skyfishing is a thing... The funny thing about that? Fishing already involves a lot of waiting... I certainly can't catch Thunderbolt Eels all day, I have to wait for a window... Just another thing that makes their excuse all the more vapid... Pretty sure Airships and Ferry rides would be more regular than half the windows for certain fish, certainly when you also pair it up with weather requirements...

As for Free Company Airships... All I want at this point in something along the lines of Skies of Arcadia... I think of some of the Airship battles in that game, and I can't help but feel that is how Bismarck should have been... How did we even kill Bismarck as it is? We popped a giant zit on his back or something? Snore, give me something like Skies' Gigas battles please. We've come a long way from the Dreamcast, I'm sure the development team could work something better out of the concept... Certainly opens up a whole new avenue of possibilities for Trials, rather than the same boring recycled Primal set up... Aerial dogfights with Garlean Ships? A final showdown with the Gration? Nope, we'll be getting cutscenes and a dungeon instead...
