that is not what OP is asking for.
He's asking for PVP mode between FCs.
basically a guild war.

I read what the OP said and my point remains the same.
With GCs you have a 1/3 chance of being in the same GC as someone else on your server, but the chances of you being in the same FC as someone else on your server are nowhere near that high. The PvP community is small enough already and I don't know of any PvP FCs or even FCs with high amounts of PvPers, but I do know of PvP LSs.
If someone were in a small FC and were the only one to PvP as their endgame (yes, their are people who PvP for endgame instead of raiding. We actually have one in my FC), would find it impossible to participate in this type of content unless they leave their FC. FCs are very personal, they're very family-like and many players have often invested a lot of time and gil into them. While GCs, up until the release of FL, only really offered different weapon/armor glamors.
Having a player chose between their desired content and their friends is not something any MMORPG should do unless it was something that existed in the beginning. To suddenly implement FC PvP now would be a hard choice for some players, who are likely in an FC for the social aspect, rather than the content aspect unlike those in raiding FCs, as those have been around for years.
Except the people of Eorzea barely work together, have a coliseum that promotes dueling, and people always want to know who's the best? PVP modes are perfectly fine and healthy because one thing that will not change is PVE balance comes first, always. Because we don't have open world pvp this isn't an issue.
Actually, there is a pretty huge difference between completely random teams, and being prioritized into your actual Grand Company.
I know people in my Grand Company, who're also on different servers, I know people in opposing Grand Companies as well. Having completely randomized teams destroys that, what I've suggested has all the benefits of randomized teams, while still maintaining that. Win win.
Given how many are already just calling for the out right removal of Grand Companies from Frontlines, I wouldn't worry too much about that... They can always just force it if not...
