Brain bleach, please.
There was one MMO I played where Templar Knights (which would be this game's Paladin) could use Greatswords, swords, and Maces. Guess which one 99% of them used though? Maces all the time because all the other weapons were not worth using. If a Monk could use a slashing or piercing weapon they would never touch their blunt weapons again. If a Machinist had the choice of using guns that dealt blunt damage no good MCH would pick it over one that did piercing damage. And if they added clubs to the warrior class that dealt blunt damage that would also be useless.
It's sooooo hard to balance. Classes are hard to balance, let alone trying to balance out different weapons for one class.
I'm perfectly fine with including visual variants to weapons, but if possible I'd also like for it to change the sound effects associated with them as well. For example, as someone mentioned earlier, a MCH weapon that was skinned as a crossbow would be nice, but some of the MCH attacks make too much of a "boom" to really work with that weapon......
what you are asking is what should have been done in the first place. Monks for example should have had blunt weapons but lately all they get are "piercing" weapons like the patas or even the mnk zodiac. War can have hammers as Nero uses a gun "hammer" as his weapon but uses the same move sets as the warrior.
