So glad I preordered mine when I had the chance. I was cutting my "side funds" limit a bit close, but I knew reports like these would be common. My guess is that due to the fact that production speeds are limited, (particularly if they're going through a manufacturer who makes other items as well), they are putting them in the store as soon as they have just enough to sell, which means they sell out almost instantly. As someone who works in a factory, I can assure you that it takes time to produce a large quantity of a product, particularly if it's of good quality, (which the plushies are). Unless they create contracts with many different factories, then they're simply not going to be able to produce them at a rate that exceeds the demand. On top of the increased costs, making such contracts also increases the risk of poor quality products, which will lead to a slew of enraged fans. I'm not saying that it can't be done, just defending SE a little on why exactly it's happening......

I can understand (to some extent) that it can be hard to keep up with demand (even though any company that sells such items regularly can do it with much higher demand). Plushies aren't SE's primary product, so whoever they're outsourcing production to is likely giving them a pretty low priority.
That doesn't explain why SE's store won't allow people to order them. Handling back orders isn't all that different from handling pre-orders. In either case it's a matter of taking orders for something that's going to be available at some point in the future, and then fulfilling those orders later once the supply is available.
The store even offers to put us on what they refer to as a "waiting list" except that it's not a waiting list at all, just an email notification list. Once some are available, emails go out and whoever gets, checks, and reacts to their email the fastest gets the items. Everyone else is out of luck no matter how long they've been waiting. I just wish it was an actual waiting list, where being on the list gives you a place in line for being able to buy the items.

Same thing here... What are they making, 20 at a time?
Edit: but it's totally in stock here. http://store.jp.square-enix.com/item/MWFF140073_1.html

I got the e-mail for the Postmoogle plush this morning and within 20 seconds, was logged in and at the check-out screen. It was out of stock. This is the second time this has happened to me. :( It's discouraging me from buying anything from the store.

At least you all got e-mails from your products, all I got is an annoying error 401.
-
Same here, I'm trying to give you money SE, but you don't want it, I've been trying really hard to get the stuff that I want, but it's always out of stock, please make more stock, this is ridiculous...

I was out on the floor at work when they came back in stock. By the time I got to my phone to try to order, they were already sold out.
Why don't they allow us to place backorders? Not everyone can camp their computer waiting for things to come back in stock, especially when they have such a short window of availability.

As much as i would like to have an IRL carbuncle plushie. This is getting to the point where they should offer an in-game only version and generate 1million digital codes.

Would be nice to have a Square Enix store that let me buy things like that in the first place :/. Some people don't understand how lucky they are.
