I don't have enough data to give hard numbers on this, but in my experience the level 55 left side gear (ramie/dhalmel) gives tier IV materia more often than it doesn't. Easily worth the NPC vendor prices for the gear especially if you meld junk materia to them to compensate for it being NQ.

There aren't a lot of great ways to blitz spiritbonding these in one sitting that haven't been mentioned above, but if you keep using them when you can then you'll get a decent supply of them over time. I'll just switch to the spiritbonding gear set whenever I need to make a bunch of refined mats that don't need to be HQ, for instance.

Which it is. A 10% drop chance from 45+ vs a 75% drop chance from 55~ (moghome)

30 minutes to SBing lvl 45, 1 hour for SBing (via gathering) lvl 55.

Now why would anyone actually waste their time SBing DoM/DoW items?


I mentioned it before in a different thread, but it's pretty tiring seeing ''Urths fount'' as best SB place time, and time again. It's one of the reasons I imagine why Tier IV (crafting) materias are still so overpriced. Because few people want to spend an hour for maybe 1 of them. More people would SB if they realised they could get 5 in that same hour instead...while also getting 6-7 stacks of gathering items they can sell.

For the tier 4s to play materia roulette with. The crafted i160 bodies can give tier 5s (I've gotten 2 tier 5s from about 6 or 7 i160 pieces, and the hq i160 pieces melded with 3 or so pieces of materia take literally 2 dungeon runs to spiritbond.

With the conversion rate being about 100:1, IV : V~ ; I say good luck with that if you obtain your SBs via lvl 45-50 equipment.
That would take about 50 hours of SBing.
