As I read this I tested it too, and it works, kindof.
The quirk with it is, that you get no notification for it at all and the tooltip does not update the halfed cost.

I agree with you.
But let's remember, as far as i am aware, WHM is supposed to be only a burst healer, since they got the strongest heals in the game.
I understand though that their unique aspects are being turned into "not so" unique aspects (Proshell, stoneskin, and AST copying their regens - i still can't accept the fact that AST is a hybrid...seriously SE-)
But in my opinion, WHM should be a more "medic" type of job, like, having an AOE esuna (the same SCH's selene has), getting reraise, new levels of regen maybe, being able to enchant people's weapons with the elements (example:enthunder) anyway.
Leaving the mitigation to SCHs and the.....whatever....to ASTs
This was true before, which is why it was balanced, but as of this last patch AST comes super close to WHM in healing output. Said changes are fine for AST if it means giving them a chance to heal end-game raids, but WHM didn't get anything out of the deal. Basically put, WHM healing output isn't so much greater that it makes up for the severe lack in utility the other 2 healers have, utility that is now mandatory in end-game raiding to make DPS-checks feasible. On top of that, none of WHM's DPS skills ignore the ACC requirement of end-game, unlike SCH and AST which have a few skills that are 100% guaranteed hits. This means that WHM ends up wasting more MP than any other healer and overall less DPS than SCH and AST on end-game boss fights.
Then we also have to account for the fact that all tank busters from 3.0 onward will be magic damage, making WHM's Virus utterly useless (and cementing SCH as always 1 of the 2 guaranteed healers in a party). AST's Disable buff makes up for this since now it won't get wasted on auto-attacks. WHM has nothing that compares sadly.
More or less, FFXIV is heading down the path where the jack-of-all trades jobs are becoming the optimal choices because they are a little TOO good at being jack-of-all trades. WHM, which is a purely specialized job, is being left behind in the party-utility department, which is becoming more important than pure HPS due to the shift in how mechanics are designed.
In that case, give SCH a stun skill because AST and WHM have one. What about a Sleep effect to AST and SCH? It's not fair that only WHM has Repose, right?

SCH mitigate more damage because they are supposed to. It's one of their job features, it's supposed to stack to a higher mitigation % than the other two healing jobs. Duh. That's like me complaining that SCH doesn't get three regen effects like WHM.
You're acting like I'm asking for WHMs to get Soil, Covenant, Adlo, and Succor. I'm not. Virus is one small ability of the SCH toolkit that is only a fraction of their mitigation potential. WHM will still be far behind SCH and still won't even have the sacred soil/collective unconscious-like bubble mitigation.
Sky's not falling here. It's just making one very lackluster part of WHM a tiny bit less behind. But it will still be far behind.
Incidentally Whispering Dawn + Rouse is considerably more powerful than Medica II. It's not like SCH doesn't have an excellent regen.
