The command is /display main off and /display main on. If that doesn't work it must be broken.

As the poster above (almost) said its /display [mh/head] [on/off]
mh being Main Hand and head being your headgear
For future reference you can use /? /command to view the help file for that command. This even tells you what emotes are supposed to mean :D

Thanks people I got it working. Turns out /display mh off is the one that works.
