Don't like it, don't join a group like that. there are hundreds of "casual" groups that you don't have to become like a machine.
Also what issue with the design? That bosses don't fall over themselves?

Thanks for repeating exactly what I was saying and proving my point. If you don't see how, read it again. "Sell runs don't contribute to gil buying any more than crafted items and housing do." In any case, many of the people that buy sell runs have gil left over from 1.0 (or the cracked materia they had from 1.0) or they're avid crafters.
Buying a sell run does not automatically make you a gil buyer, which seems to be what you're insinuating.
Overall my community experience in this game has been much better than WoW and other MMO's, though yesterday I had my first inhumane experience with another player who was harassing me out of no where.
While waiting in queue I was emoting with some lalas. I accidentally used the /throw emote at some aura near me, and her "e-bf" told me he'd f**k me up if I did it again. Then he proceeded to call me a black ape, big fat b**ch, man and an ogre. This type of toxicity bothers me but its expected in any MMO. I didn't let it get to me, but it was my first very negative experience based on my race in the game. Clearly he needs glasses, because there's nothing "fat" or "ape" ish about a female roe. I have noticed a trend of the community, specifically at end game, starting to shift towards WoW. Even in DF I notice my parties don't speak as much as they used to before and everyone is hell bent on rushing things rather than playing the game. Speed runs are awful and often counterproductive IMO.
And even though it is just a game, I've noticed a trend of one or two male characters standing around with a lot of female miqotes, midlanders and Au'ra girls surrounding who then proceed to make fun of lalas, roes and elezen by emotes or language. It's quite pathetic and even though its fantasy online racism, it's quite deplorable and sad to witness. It's never happened to me until yesterday, but a few of my elezen and roe friends have told me stories of these "cliques" mistreating them even in DF groups.
It doesn't. You're completely wrong. People who buy gil are going to buy it regardless of how expensive things are. Things are expensive because there's a lot of gil in the game being floated.
Most people who buy runs are crafters with tons of money. Most people who buy crafted gear got money from selling runs.
Wow pretty heavy stuff. I'll say it's better to take the game less seriously. Mix with less serious players. Avoid the pursuit of high end content if you are willing.
Seriously, calm down. Take a Xanax or Valium or something.
For once I agree with you Ceodore.
"Losing your humanity" because you felt you had to switch your job to get understanding from your static...wow. Do we need to get the United Nations Human Rights Council involved? FFXIV is the last place I'd expect to find someone claiming their humanity was stripped of them O.o.
Being a bit stressed with people, sure, but these are very strong words. This community is awful at times, but it's clear that you're suffering extremely deeply, too deeply even, and desperately need to relax or move on. Might just be me but I wouldn't be so deeply hurt over just being asked to switch jobs....worst case scenario is I'd just not bother with the people in raiding content anymore and find another pasttime. Not dwell so deeply over something so trivial in life.
What job you play and who you raid with and if you raid at all in a vidya game are such tiny things to be so deeply upset.
Hi yuki, after reading your new post, I would like to dedicate below song to you.

You found the truth, I hope you would start to enjoy your own game from now. For me, RPG is the key. ^^;
