I actually rerolled a new character (although my highest DoW/DoM on my main is L24; I'm not -too- experienced with the game) just to experience the new low level game. I got THM to 6 and CNJ to 11 in something less than 3 hours. It was -incredibly- painless. However, I was duoing. I'm going to be grinding something to 10 solo this weekend, without the benefit of the starter quests; let's see how that compares.
I do think that it's important to keep soloing in the game, since they specifically said that part of their design goals were to make a game that could be enjoyed by soloers with only small amounts of time on their hands. I personally hate soloing and solo content, but I think it's vital to have as a viable option if you've promised it as an initial design goal, especially in a system with such broken user interfaces / experiences with Party and Linkshell systems and such fragmented server communities.
That said, 1.19's the one bringing me back to the game, and a step in the right direction. The battle system needs a lot of work - haven't they said this is gonna be the focus of 1.20 and 1.21, along with jobs? - but party-based XPing is now viable, which is wonderful.
Question: Have you tried doing level 1 leves at ***? That should put the monsters at level 7 or so, which should still be high enough to give you decent XP without completely slaughtering you.
