Accuracy: Can it just go away?

That wouldn't happen in this game because there's only 3-4 stats and none of them are as impactful as WoW's stats are.

I personally loved reforging, the ability to put crit on everything was great. Just cos blizzard handled it poorly doesn't mean SE would.

If not get rid of it, at least make excess accuracy do something beneficial instead of becoming a pure waste.

In old D&D games where you could completly customize EVERYTHING it was such a fun to run dungeons with your selfmade team... but back to the topic:

Short easy example:
You have 3 bars from 0% to 100% all at 50% -> default
Lets say 1st is attack, 2nd is defence and 3rd is mana
Now modifying 1st to 80% -> decreases 2nd to 30% and 3rd to 40%
Next is increasing 2nd to 50% -> decreases 1st to 70% and 3rd to 30%

You can either have a fixed transformation or give the player a free choice (i like the free one much better because larger variation of different builds).
With fixed number for example: if 1st goes 3 up -> 2nd goes 2 down and 3rd just 1 down
Compared to the free choice: at default i have 0 points, for each % going down (doesnt matter where) i will get +1 point that i can spend to go up somewhere else

The Problem we have in newer generation games is that you nearly can not change anything... those 30 stats in ffxiv compared to 1000 primary stats on ilvl 190 is a joke!
The more stats you can change, the better the system with "free choice" becomes...

Edit: In ffxiv when defense goes up (gear) you also increase primary stats, the bit of variation of secundary stats is a joke too...

There is no reason to have it. It just gives people this illusion of customization when in all actuality you end up with way more accuracy than you really need in the contrnt youre running. You really only need to use food in order to substitute whatever points you need. You're not replacing higher ilvl with lower ilvl gear over it unless you're in content you're not supposed to be in to begin with.

Get rid of it. It's not used in 95% of the content anyway unless you're fighting something 15 levels above you. Put one of the other substats on that gear and food instead of it being a wasted slot.

Even blizzard understood that accuracy was ultimately a meaningless stat.

Nope, I don't meld anything. SE said if they deemed it an issue, they will start giving gear with more accuracy. Why get rid of it? We already have like at best 2 or 3 stats that matter. Stop trying to simplify this game more than what it already is. Pumping everything in one stat is dumb enough as it is as a game design.

Yeah, It's so funny missing attacks with WHM because your gear has 0 accuracy... They could add to cleric stance +100% accuracy.

It's inherent in the design of this game, in particular the battle rotations, that Accuracy has a much higher value than anything else up to the cap. What this means, is that within the same iLv, we will always seek to cap our Accuracy. Think about it. This means there is no choice. The only time when one would go into a fight uncapped, is when one is unable to.

Accuracy does not make combat more interesting because you seek to cap it all the time so it is a non-issue. Accuracy does not make gear choices more interesting because you seek to cap it all the time so there is no choice.

A system that strongly favors a particular stat to be capped at particular levels, may as well just throw away the stat because it presents no choice and has no effect on combat unless you make it impossible to cap. And making it impossible to cap Accuracy in FFXIV will cause hell to break loose on player rotations. It will create all sorts of balance problems. And in the end, unless all rotations are modified to be so forgiving that you no longer care if any particular skill of yours hit or miss---unless that happens, we are still going to maximize Accuracy, ending up with the exact same situation as when we could reach the Accuracy cap, i.e. no choice and no effect on combat.

Stat transformation and modification is the most common solution to this problem, yet in FFXIV only crafted gear (which are designed to be not BiS) allow any form of customization. In the current tier of progression, only the top end presents gear choices, all other tiers present only one set of gear.

Even if tomorrow FFXIV introduces a system to "reforge" any piece of gear's stats so players can always adjust their Accuracy to cap, it still has the exact same problem of everyone always capping the stat.
