But the fact it roots you has to play into the strategy of using it, if you're smart about using it it can be just as effective. For instance if mp is not an issue I'm not going to use it over heals that cost mp so I can continue to draw/shuffle cards and dps as well. But like I said with jumps on A1 and between phases on A4 there is nothing else to cast in those moments other than heals. Why spend mp during those moments when a free bubble will do just as well. There is nothing to target so therefore you wouldn't be doing dps in those moments either. As a SCH main pre 3.0 I totally agree nocturnal sects bubble is lackluster in comparison to sacred soil but dirunals bubble can be beast mode if used properly even if it roots you.

You can edit your post to get past the 1K character limit. It's really silly design flaw on S-Es forum. I generally I find it's best to write out your whole message, cut out a large block of it, post the message, edit the message, then paste the message back down. You can temporarily paste onto Notepad as a safety measure.

@Topic - I don't think Collective Unconsciousness is useless, but it certainly is quite limited when compared to the its counterparts - Asylum and Sacred Soil - namely because it restricts the caster from doing anything in the mean time. I would've much preferred it to be a bubble that is dropped around the AST upon use but didn't restrict them. That or boost the Noct version of Collective Unconsciousness in the same way they did the Diurnal version (that delicious 200 potency/tick heal) and make it 15% or something to that effect. Collective Unconsciousness should be more powerful than their WHM and SCH equivalents if they wish to fully and completely restrict the caster in the process.

Well I did mention something about a forum I read about people claiming it was useless and that they just flat out took it off their hot bar. I found where it was under on my phone pretty easy but having a hard time finding on my browser, like I said new to posting here some things are a bit confusing for me lol.

Do you think they were referring to Celestial Opposition? Since I feel most players would agree, Celestial Opposition (CO) could use a pretty big boost instead of Collective Unconsciousness (CU).

Yes, they do. Read the tooltip. It says you can't use Asylum or Sacred Soil with another ground AoE. I tested it in A1S when I did it as SCH, and it canceled my WHM's Asylum. The reason why I tell people like you to l2p is very simple: you don't know the basics of any healing class in this game and only spread misconceptions about the jobs.

The edit function is also a delete function to, so you can actually edit your posts and paste them into your opening post then delete the second, third, etc posts afterwards~

Be warned that you can't edit from your phone if you're trying to post anything from that medium (also means you can't bypass the 1K limit on the phone).

That tooltip is for other ground based abilities that the same caster has. So a SCH can't have both Sacred Soil and Shadow Flare up, but Asylum and Sacred Soil can both be up at the same time as they come from two different sources. I believe the reason Asylum says that is for the PvP ability Sacred Prism.

Collective Unconscious is actually ok in diurnal - it has some niche uses. Noct version is total garbage and needs buffed. IMO up to 15% mitigation and the AST remains impervious during its duration (to make it safe to move into harms way to use it).

They do not.The "Cannot be used with any other area-creating actions." part of the tooltip on Asylum and Sacred Soil refers to other area-creating actions used by the same caster. In other words, a Scholar's Shadowflare will cancel her Sacred Soil and her Sacred Soil will cancel her Shadowflare, and a White Mage using the PvP skill Sacred Prism will overwrite Asylum and vice versa.

Asylum and Sacred Soil are most definitely usable together.


More on-topic: Collective Unconscious is a bad skill because it prevents you from performing any GCD actions, while also being weaker than the actions you could be performing with those GCDs. Nocturnal is at least useful during phase transitions after you've put A. Helios up on everybody, assuming that the WHM is going to be the one timing a heal to bring everybody's HP back up as soon as the damage hits, but the Diurnal version is only really usable in fights that present so little danger that the piddly little 200 pot/tick heal is enough to keep people alive - in which case you should be using your GCD heals to keep people alive, and then throwing on some extra DPS since the fight is obviously too easy to require a full-time healer. It's pretty telling that most instances of people saying that they use CU in any difficult fight end up saying "Yeah I like Collective Unconscious, I do my regular heals and then throw it up for one or two ticks" - meaning that the best use they can find for the skill is a gimpy version of Assize/Indomitability.

Unfortunately, the reason that Collective Unconscious exists in the game is not because someone thought that it would be an interesting, unique, or effective addition to a healer's toolkit. It exists because someone said "It looks really cool in that cutscene when Y'shtola does that thing, players should be able to do that thing". The effect of the skill was an afterthought to its aesthetic, and it shows.

I'm only saying what I tested. I used Sacred Soil on top of my partner's Asylum, and it vanished (he had just cast that thing).
