Who said she didn't have help? She could have talked her lover boy Wedge into tracking down a few rouge chimeras (And there are a few poking around since they were over world enemies in 1.0 Mor Dohna) then get him to blast it with a weapons grade Magitech Cannon. Pretty sure as head over heels as Wedge is for Tataru he'd be willing to do just about anything just cause she asked.

And being love stricken combined with commandeering a Garlond Ironworks Magitek Armor would probably give him the reckless disregard for his own safety to go Chimera Hunting as well as the firepower to come back alive and pelts in hand afterwards.

For what it's worth female lalafell just have incredibly sinister smiles. You should go look up a video of one in the wedding cutscenes, they look like they're about to knife their partner. lol

Tataru is going to betray us.

She was the sniveling rat that was responsible for tracking the source of all the money going into the Crystal Braves, and she did not call it even though Riol said that it all stank to high heaven when he was looking into it. At the same time a murdered Brave is found, we are conveniently given a quest by Tataru to do sh*t on the other side of the realm. she manages to find us in Coerthas, and just pushes us to go into Ishgard (pro-Ascian move) and is eagerly waiting for Urianger when he was off meeting the White Emissary.

Plus, for all we know, she could have aided Lahabrea in controlling Thancred by conspicuously leaving the stone in his track. The stones we were searching for in Eastern La Noscea could be the same type that was used for Thancred's ascian collar.

All lalas are evil.

If we can find Filhammin I wonder what she'd have to say about Tataru...

I definitely think Tataru is going to betray us or it could be something else. Maybe she's actually possessed by an Ascian or something. As is, they've shown Tataru to be weak and defenseless in pretty much every aspect, so that would either have to be a front or if she is really weak and just a spy that's been feeding information, they better give us the option to do to her what Raubahn did to Teledji!

As someone who plays a Lalafell character, I can confirm the engine tends to render their smiles near uncanny valley.

Ok great, another post where ppl says that Tataru is evil. If at this point of the game there is nothing that support the thing that Tataru is evil, I think it will never happen.

Tataru is a good person, she is the only ones that wanna keep is with good motivation despite the horrible things we went thought. She is kind and funny.

It does make me wonder if Tataru's smile was actually based off of a smile or a smirk emote though. Either way, it seemed to me that there was a lot of emphasis put on that scene and her "goodbye" there, as well as some comments that other npcs have made about her as has been mentioned already. I mean for instance, from a design standpoint, why waste even as much as a text box or two to emphasize in that npc's script that Tataru shouldn't even be capable of getting the mats for that outfit if there's no real reason for that information to be revealed to us?

It's a literary device called foreshadowing.

As for why they pointed out the materials she got for Y'shtola's new clothes were really rare and expensive... a little mystery here and there is nice. It does not mean Tataru is up to something sinister; that's reading waaaaaaaaay too much into it.
