I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 and I used it for about 2-3 hours yesterday when I discovered a very bad bug. I could not access Settings under the start menu. Whenever I clicked Settings it would pop up and immediately close. I tried several methods to get to the Settings options and all met with the same issue. Anyways, I went to check if their were updates to install by searching Windows Update in the search bar. Upon clicking Windows Update from the list, it too would immediately close. I tried several restarts and and an hour or so of googling the issue to no avail. So instead, I tried a clean install (which took forvever to figure out how to do mind you) but that didnt fix the issue either.
My system is fully capable of running windows 10 by the way. I had the technical preview installed on this machine before and never encountered this issue. Its just the "retail" one that's given me headaches.
I went back to windows 7, since I dislike Windows 8's metro UI. I'll try 10 again when I know the Settings issue is fixed
Anyways, for those that are interested in doing a clean install. From the sign in screen, hold Shift down and click the power button icon on the sign in menu and do a restart. This will bring up an option to "troubleshoot" click that, then choose reset PC taking care to choose the correct options. ***BE CAREFUL** there is an option to wipe ALL DRIVES, so if you have more than one and dont wish it to be wiped, make sure you choose the drive that only windows is installed on.
EDIT: SETTINGS ISSUE was just fixed. Details here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...d-35d82e04c55f
