I don't understand why counter opinions are not accepted, and when someone has a different one they are called names.

Nah, I wasn't referring to anyone at all; just musing about how things are heating up around here and suddenly everything needs no less than 5 threads about the same subject to discuss it.
If it was, indeed, part harp - that's still a long way away. Ifrit is coming long before jobs are, and we can't very well get an item for a fully accomplished job as a reward for something that comes out before the very foundation of jobs is even laid. I think people's perceptions of time are waaaay off, here. Jobs are a long way away. Ifrit is tomorrow.
The ironic thing about this statement, is they model a lot of Final Fantasy games to be realistic in ways, as realism is what creates immersion for many.
So yeah it is a Fantasy game, but there's nothing wrong with Realism (which already exists in XIV in some instances, just by the fact they Mocap :P)
You know what?
I'm sick of this. Fantasy is relative. You can have realistic fantasies like Game of Thrones and then you have stuff like Zelda.
I've come to terms with the equipment and I accept them as an addition to the game, but don't denounce realism and believability in design because you feel it isn't fantasy enough. There's room enough in the world for all sorts of styles in all genres.
I think they are sweet. Just like in FFXI, the avatar weapons won't mean anything in a couple years. Make 'em exciting while they're hot.
Pun intended.
You know... Ifrit's Bow... Garuda's Dagger, Shiva's..Um..Claws? From the primal fights. Carbuncle's Pole..lol.
oh yeah, i dont remember those weapons being too popular.
Right but at the same time, people should be able to accept things outside the realm of our universe's possibility because it is Fantasy. It doesn't have to follow the rules of our world, that's the point. It might and there is a certain level of believability sure but things can be a bit unrealistic and still fit in with Fantasy.
