Changes in Royal Road made Spire useless on solo

Eye for an Eye isn't the SCH's class-defining feature, though. And when it comes to Selene's one ability being lackluster solo, SCH at least could choose to use Eos instead (who is an absolute doll for soloing treasure maps). Since AST can't choose whether or not to draw Spire, it's a different issue.
