If you've beaten the Main Scenario, you should have the option to carry that over.

RMT ? beat MSQ with total of 6h (skip every CS and dialog from 2.0) and get character ban shortly after ? they might but that ll take them a while and not effective.

And no, I don't think it hinder anyone but you, who want to make 2nd character for w/e reason but don't want to re-do quest (even if quest is interesting, I bet this thread still pop up on the forum) and the ppl who want to rush to end game content.

Yes I would've loved this.
I have 3 characters, and after I got all of them to 50 I hated the story even more than I did before I started.
Now I've gone through the new story with my main characted, and my other alt is at lvl 58, and then I need to do it one more time :c
If I could just tie that together, and achievements so they share too I'd be content.
Oh and i want to be able to send things to my alts, not having to go through the FC chest or friends

I would be ok with when that make lockouts class based not character based, otherwise no. Honestly that's how things should work anyways.

My question is... why does people make new chars? You can have it all in one,...

Vs grinding fates? most definitely. I personally wish all the side quest would reset when you switched jobs. Would rather mindlessly grind fetch quests than fates.

Yeah, there are several valid reasons for playing an alternate character.
Even wanting to replay the story because last time you did 2.0 story-line was well over a year ago.

But I really don't understand why you would pass on the VAST amounts of EXP MSQ gives, it's really enormous.

I have started an alt to try out Au'Ra and replay the story, and I did NOT need to touch a single side-quest, leve or fate (except for those unlocking dungeons and leveling second job) till level 30something. It took but a few hours to get there without any sort of armory bonus, without replaying dungeons (outside of the roulette twice or so). It's incredible how fast it goes.

I'd love to create an alt or multiple, just for the sake of playing a different race, having a different appearance / animation. I still like my main ofc, but I'd really like to have some variety. However, the mere thought of having to go through all of the story fetch quests again is just too dreadful. So yeah, I approve of this idea of having an option to skip (if you've already beaten MSQ content on one char before)

Lots of reasons.
There are lots of different races, with one character you can only play one (unless you fantasia but then you dont have your old one left)
More retainers, more armoury space
Alts dont share caps, meaning I can get an item for my main and 2 alts every week. I can get items from savage and normal alexander on all my characters.
Roleplaying reasons. I have an alt who only play tank classes only because my main is a skinny miqote, she can't do much tanking

I think this guy got it right. If the devs wanted you to have all the perks of having an alt whilst not having to replay the game, they would provide you with those perks already. Easy race and name change button, more bag space, more retainers, class specific tome caps and loot lockouts etc. The point of an alt is to replay the game. We can already have all classes on one character so in this game it means playing as a different race/gender and without the power we have acquired on our main characters.

If someone is serious about roleplaying, it makes sense that they go through the story again. The character is not an extension of your real life self, but a fictional person. He/she who has not done the deeds of a Warrior of Light but calls him/herself one is just a fake hero. A fraud. There's actually a small story portion about it in La Noscea.
