I agree with the OP, when I heard bard changes were coming I figured they would add some real nice support. Not saying they don't support as it is, but I geared up my bard ready to roll, if there was more support I'd hang up my SMN and blast out the bow again. I was a bard in 1.19/1.20 but stopped in 2.0 after 50.
I also agree with the foes requiem being boosted to all damage, since you're sacrificing damage as it is you need to make up for it by giving others a boost in some way.
Though others are correct, they are a DPS..I remember the whole "I'm not a bard I'm an archer!" arguments. Still maybe there's a good reason why there's not a support role slot. Let someone who can DPS a bit but the output from the other party members makes up for it, at least I would feel that should be the intent.
I love buffing party members..by far my most favorite thing in the old 11 was to get to a camp and go "missing a lot? let me help with that..there ya go. Ok we leveled once or twice, hitting okay? now lets hit harder..pld..ballad? sure stand here.." I was a busy busy bard. Buffing the DPS then over to the mages to buff them and make it so the tank got half the dps buff + the ballad and run back behind the mages to give them their full buff, very fun.
I am the only BRD who misses support more than DPS?

Nope, you're not alone. I made a similar thread about MCH and how our support abilities are really situational and lack the actual "support" that we're supposed to have. Long cooldown abilities that are only used in very end game is not support. A buff that increases the party damage or reduces damage for an entire fight (in exchange for personal dps) is support.

Same here. I really never cared about our DPS. I mean I always tried to pull the highest number but I was okay being below average DPS. I don't necessarily think we needed the damage boost from minuet. They could have added more support abilities while keeping our gameplay intact.
Also, our new support spell is probably useful but people are whining too much. It'll for sure find its use in savage alexander without problems. -

My new main is machinist, I miss the support too. But that things we have is in the moment not really in need. Most time I'm only a mana battery.....
When we are supposed to be a support DPS, then we should have more of it......
Give us more support things or more DPS.....
I'm feeling so useless when not even healer need any mana or the DPS our support......we slow down the group.....

Personally, I feel our abilities should be useful all the time, especially if the reason we're given lower damage than other dps classes is because of them. I would love to see more support. It's sad that they decided to go away from support as a viable role. I've seen it done wonderfully in many games. Captain in LotRO was always a fun class to play in groups (old school LotRO, like vanilla/MoM days). a few GW2 classes come to mind as well.

bards are still pretty good at support, foe makes caster dps go above melee, particularly during burst phases. A foe'd BV'd blm will skyrocket over melee dps in terms of damage dealt during the song that's what a 20% damage amp will do though, too bad too many bards just don't use it. Matter of fact I rarely get foe outside of my own static members... it's like pulling teeth in a duty finder.
Paeon and ballad are still good, the fight designs themselves atm however deem paeon a little subpar... however instead of casting paeon then you could be singing foe. This is due to the multiple jump phases attached to encounters now, this is where bards should sing (during the jumps) but they do not.
About the op though... very good bard probably, however I do think the dps abilities were properly placed, except the esuna type one i guess. It could be something else. -

When I was doing the BRD quest, I remember the lore of it, the NPC guy was sad because most of the poeple who looked for him for his archery skills to be his disciple went out disappointed because instead of archery they were teached songs... not understanding the power of songs that would enhance the power of their companions in the battlefield... hence, imo, BRDs real worth falls more into the support through songs lore wise.
