No, problem wasn't not paying attention. It was making the assumption that an upgrade system that established a precedent for two iterations already would continue to operate the same way the third time around.

thanks for the replies. its good to know I wasn't the only one. lesson learned it does pay to pay attention. if id decided to upgrade my belt earlier it wouldn't have been a problem. as it was it was only 3-4 hours farming so not a major deal and f 1 person does read this before they get caught out then this thread has server a better purpose than I ever thought it would.
