I think I just suck at crafting...

So,

I just HQed 5 LTW items for the Master 2 book from 0 -> 100% without any problems. Most of the time i had 40-50 CP left and 30-40 durability. Finishing with a Byregot on 11 Stacks with only CP+ melded lvl 60 HQ gear gave me 4.550 quality, thats more then 50% of what is needed. I only used Hasty Touch twice, and to finish it the item it was enough to Rapid Synth + carefuly Synth II x2


My base stats: 641 Craft 608 Control 397 CP - no food or specialist actions used.


You might want to consider leveling every other craft to 50 first. I Had no need for ingenuity/Piece by Piece/Manipulation or what so ever to do this tho.
Just stop being stuck in 2.0 mode and the "HASTY TOUCH TO GAIN STACKS OMFG BBQ!" System. Get your ass to 11 stacks as quick and safely as possible. i.e. use Precise Touch when you got Steady Hand II up asap - the more stacks you get early on the more quality you get on each other touch you land and finish it off with Byregots Blessing. And if you're on a specialized job use Byregot's Miracle (on 6+ Inner Quiet) if you got Steady Hand II up and a Excellent shows.

Crafting a 60 one star is way harder then those old items

While I cannot disagree with that sentiment those items were meant to be difficult.

And TC, I'm NOT especially geared. You can get the same gear I've got, or better, at 60. My rings, earring, necklace, bracelet, can all be gotten as good or better with level 55ish HQ gear, melded to add in a few points of Craft and Control. Make sure that you are keeping your crafts all relatively up to the same level, and make sure that you are gearing yourself as you go along. If you are not keeping up with your gear, then yes, you will have difficulties.

This is helpful, still leaves me to lvling my other crafters just for one book sadly, but thnx. Also gonna point out you have 641 craft and 608 control and doesn't make crafting this any more easier for me. Now onto lvling other crafting classes just to master one. :/

The point of Hasty Touch is to prevent yourself from becoming CP starved while getting the same Touch efficiency as Precise Touch. If you're trying to Precise Touch to push Quality and then try to reserve CP for BB, you might have some trouble(Especially running no Comfort Zone and using Master's Mend)

For these crafts, you'll want to aim for 11 stacks of inner quiet each time. This can be done using a hasty touch approach, but it seems from this video that you're only using a single master mend 2 for durability restores. You'd need to use a combination of mm2 + manipulation/mm1 at the very least (if not 2x mm2). Using steady hands 2 should also, on average, give you an extra stack of inner quiet by the end of the craft.

Also, instead of using only cs2 for progress, try using RS as well (level 15 arm ability). This should make it easier to build 11 stacks of IQ if you're stuck with only a single durability restore.

Using precise touch can reduce the amount of required durability restores, but you have make sure to save enough CP for a decent finisher. I'd say that the biggest issue here is your low base CP, which would make things difficult under any of the possible approaches.

I actually wondered how you'd fit 2 Master Mend skills in there. I'm lacking accessories big time so I may need to get my Ltw and Gsm up next to make better ones. This actually could explain alot of my recent failures too :/ Thnx for the tips :)

To fit in two master mend skills, you'd want some CP melds, CP food and probably comfort zone, unless you have really high CP. However, this isn't necessarily required anymore if you can minimize the amount of progress steps and use skills like precise touch.

I'd recommend melding your accessories/gear with CP materia until you have around 350 CP at least. Then use a food buff to get to around 400 CP.

If you use rapid synthesis (I think it can knock off around 400 progress, allowing progress to be finished in 3 steps), it should be possible to build 11 stacks of inner quiet even with only a single master mend 2. Under these conditions, precise touch might be required to help, but should be used sparingly (once, maybe twice depending on how many good procs you get; most good procs should be used for tricks of the trade still). Of course, the more times you use tricks of the trade, the higher the chance of getting enough CP for a second durability restore or to use precise touch. A bit of judgement will be required.

For now, I'd stay away from the specialist abilities. From what I've heard, you need a really high pool of CP to benefit from them.

Carpenter makes most of the crafting Heavensward jewelry. Goldsmithing makes most of the ARR crafting (and otherwise, actually) jewelry. So, you're probably better off leveling Carpenter for the Hallowed jewelry than you are leveling Goldsmith for older jewelry.

You wont need CP for more durability if you dont fail hasty touches. With 397 CP and no craft/control melded in HQ60 gear i can get to a chance of 80-95% with only using 1-2 Hasty touch (80% if it fails 95% if it doesnt and depending on how many good i get to precise touch) from NQ materials and only using Basic touches to get to 11 stacks on the rest. When you get CP back from good/excellent when steady hand II isnt up it will be easy enough.

The only time i went back to using Hasty touches to progress and using Tricks only for CP was to HQ some lvl 60 1-star greens. As you need Ingenuity I/II on them to be able to make Byregot work in the end and to get good progress steps that are higher then 120 points (*sigh*)

On everything that has not a star it is easily HQable from NQ mats. Please note: I'm not talking leveling a craft, neither 60 1-star crafting, but crafting with lvl 60 HQ equip on the left side (59 belt, 57 rings, 58 bracelet 59 neck) with only melded CP @ 397 total.

Reaching 100% on anything 51-60 non star craft is childs play if you stop giving in to the Hasty 80% rng crap. If you fail 2 Hasty touches you WILL have a hard time reaching 100% if you don't make enough CP back to get those 20 durability back (which will cost you at least 60CP if you want to restore them). Just Basic/precise touch it to 11 and you get an easy 4000 quality boost in the end. The more stacks you get with precise faster, the more control you have on the following touches otw to 11 IQ stacks, and sometimes 10 or hell even 9 stacks are enough because you got to 20% HQ chance before by touching on goods/excellents. (not to mention a basic touch with 11 stacks is 700+(!) quality)

If i bothered to Meld my gear for control and used food for 40-50 CP it would be possible without ANY hasty touch.

So dont brush it off with "you still need to use it."

no, you don't - 60 non star crafting is trivial and macroable, the same as it was at 2.0 release with anything non star.

When AF gear comes out in 8 days it will be even easier because its i160+ and the stats on the new tools will help a lot. And thats when you can HQ with a macro without any melds other then CP

397 CP is incredibly high before food. Im guessing your already maxed out on HQ accessories + fully melded CP (on everything) to be able to reach that much unbuffed.
So perhaps not the best example of ''with low stats''
