It really does depend on the fight though. For example, on Bismark Ex, with all of the adds/movement/lack of target times, summoners should be pushing the top dps. On Ravana, I've heard black mages can push out very high dps. On the final boss of Alexander, it seems like melee dps will win out, etc.
I heard Warriors were pulling 3,000 damage per second with some bursts of 20,000 Fel Cleave (non-crits!)... Or so the legend says.

Against a dummy, seems like DRG, NIN and MNK are all very close to each other with BLM/SMN pretty close behind. My guess would be BRD and MCH have closed the gap some as well (though not sure we have parses of it yet).
On fights with high uptime and low melee mechanics (A4) the melee DPS with higher skill will likely win (from my parses anyway).
If a fight allows BLM to turret and there are melee mechanics, they probably win. If there are melee mechanics AND ranged ones, SMN will win followed by MCH and BRD most likely as they can continue DPSing safely.
Most of this is speculation but really it ends up coming down to individual fights.
I may be wrong but had heard from various people that drg may very well be the higher damage class now?
I cannot confirm it myself as have yet to level my drg past 50
I personally haven't parsed below another DPS as DRG (and any other DRG has been since I started parsing, but I only started parsing very recently (like a week), has been primarily random dungeons and has been with pugs on a more casual server (Faerie) but that is my anecdotal evidence
My wife's best friends husbands college roommates son from his first marriage, said WHM had the best dps. That's what I heard anyway. But my understanding is 3rd party parses are inaccurate, especially when it comes to dots, so unless you work for SE, no one knows s**t.
But guys, we're all forgetting about culinarian's hasty touch!
