I'm still personally convinced we will be revealed as an Allagan experiment in the creation of the ultimate warrior, and that the WoD is also from the same project (and in another universe became the WoL.)
Though I've also thought about the whole Primal WoL thing too, though more in that "we're eventually gonna have to fight a Primal versions of ourselves right?"
I'm thinking that there's two crystals (Light and Dark) and both have warriors in order to maintain the balance.
However I'm pretty convinced that The Twelve are the primal of the wandering races. In fact, Ifrit says so to the adventurers in 1.0 that we can summon our own primals.. which gets me thinking that perhaps our primals could also include light/dark primals - e.g Zodiark?
We have the echo and Hydaelyn's blessing, hence our massive amounts of power. Hydaelyn is much more akin to a god and not a primal (Note how she existed with or without people). If just wishes and prayers with aether could somehow conjure up the WoL, Eorzea would've had the WoL a loooong time ago. I really don't think the WoL is anything close to a primal, more akin to a god's chosen warrior.

We have Hydaelyn's Blessing and the Echo. You'll also notice all the Crystals we have gathered. So, we can tap into the energies of the Crystals to further our own strength. Remember we still have Midgard as a Spirit watching us now that he approves us for Her Blessing. Also, when we finally break down the wall that Midgard created when he sealed the blessing, it's far stronger now than it was back in 2.xx.
