FFXIV official controller on sale at Amazon.com

I should be able to give impressions by Tuesday if the sale isnt off by then. The two reviews I posted are pretty in depth though, and we've got one positive impression already.

It seems pretty well made, feels nice when playing, but for some reason I cant get it to vibrate in game. The controller vibrates just fine when I mess with the on/off button, but maybe i'm missing a config option?

I like using a gamepad because of the analog sticks, i feel they are smoother to use than keyboard/mouse, but lack enough buttons. With this mouse and gameboard, I would still have both my analog sticks, but with much more buttons

Still a lil hesitant on purchasing tho, whats everyone use/think??

Logitech Combo's as in MS Trackballs, G-Keyboard, G-Headset ( for the sake of TS ), and also G13 is the best combo i ever had. Make playing really smooth and speeds it up if you get used to it.

I might grab one of these.
I could use a controller for some games on my PC so this wouldn't be bad.
It's nice to have a controller when using emulators as well :P

Only thing I could think as a problem for those two choices you posted is you would lack the ability to type in chat very well, just in case someone in the field were to pop you with a buff, heal or ress.

Duh, apparently you have to download the driver for it.

EDIT: Vibration is kinda weak though. You feel it when you get hit/do a critical hit...but its not as strong as you'd expect from your average controller. Its a great pad, just with weak force feedback...for XIV anyway.

I'll mess around on PS3 later.

I've been using the logitech dual action for the past 8 years. The SAME logitech dual action. I've cleaned it a few times, but yeah, it's been rock solid. My next controller will be wireless though. I'm tired of wires. I tried to use my ps3 controller wirelessly, but unsuccessfully. Apparently you need a certain bluetooth transceiver, and the cheap chinese knockoff I have isn't it. I'd like a quality rechargable battery, and bluetooth. If anyone sees one that actually works please pass it along.

As I can say for a lil' review: If you want comfort then you are seeking the right and basic controller. It looks like a PS2 gamepad, but when you hold it on your hands it just seems like giving the shape of your hands.

I'm saying I'm mid-satisfied, because the drivers of this product are pretty f'd up, which means that when you install its driver and play FFXIV, after some time your computer will show a Blue Screen of Death.
You can plug in the controller without the drivers that it will work really fine, but you will lose the Function Button functionality, which means:
By pressing simultaneously the Function button and another button of the gamepad you will simulate the pressure of the Function keys on the keyboard (F1-F12), where you can set shortcuts for some menus like Inventory, Gear, Actions & Traits,...

In conclusion, it's a good controller for basic gameplay. Holding it on your hands feels great and playing is comfort-mode ON. Too bad for the drivers of the controller that bring the computer to a BSoD, but if you don't need to press the Function keys from the gamepad then you can simply Plug & Play.
I've made a Snakebyte Forum thread about this issue and it would be great if it can get props in order to fix this problem.

I ordered one too, I don't know why. Well for one it's not on sale it's been that price like all year lol. Sucks to hear about the BSOD Renshi. I'll try it on my rig and see what happens when it comes in. I'm hoping it works on PS3 with Portal 2. I need a 2nd PS3 controller so that's what convinced me. Watch it not work. lol.

Hey guys. I bought this controller a couple weeks ago. If you only play FFXIV with it, it'll probably be fine. However, I have been playing a lot of games that use the D-pad rather than the analog sticks lately. After like two weeks of fairly intense play, the D-pad now sticks to the point of basically being unusable for any game that's going to require quick, precise movements on it.

The analog sticks on the controller are very nice, as are the face buttons. I found that the shoulder buttons aren't great - they're passable, but I had some trouble when trying to hold down L1 for the ctrl macro set in FFXIV.

I didn't have any problems with drivers but I also didn't try to set up any of the programmable stuff. For now, the controller is plugged into my PS3 for use with Disgaea 4 and Netflix browsing while I wait for a new Dual Shock 3 to arrive. So for the guy above me, it does work fine just being plugged into the PS3.

All in all it's a decent controller with a crappy d-pad (which seems to be a common problem on many controllers).
