Okay, the good news is - I might have a more permanent solution to this problem we're all facing. The bad news is that its going to take a while (at least it is for me) for it to work. Something is wrong with the cache files; at least, that's what the case was for me.
Go to your Game library for Steam and right click on FFXIV: ARR and go to Properties. Under the "Local Files" tab select "Verify the integrity of the game cache" when I did this, 202 files turned up to be corrupt. Currently, the files are redownloading and its taking upwards of 4 hours to complete.
Also, Steam is telling me I haven't finished downloading Heavensward (but I finished two hours ago) has this not updated on anyone else's Steam page either?
ScreamQueen,
Great suggestion, confirms my suspicion that it is the cache files. Unfortunately, not everyone is using Steam. I do think it may be possible to isolate certain cache files on the hard drive and remove them, but I haven't looked into it.
Sorry, I wish I knew how to isolate those cache files for straight PC users, but I've got nothing.
I hope someone who does stumbles upon this thread.
I had no problem getting on earlier today but as of a half hour ago Ive been recieving this 5006 error code. I'm really not happy with this I would like to play my game. I still have a bit a ways to get to expansion ready.:( P.S. Coeurl is the world I'm in
Poked around on reddit, found this

I know its not isolating the particular corrupted files, but if all else fails...
ScreamQueen,
There are ways of checking which files and registry keys a program is reading or writing to. I am not sure if I can post about this as it might violate the TOS. I am very computer savvy and definitely the person to post about it. If someone can convince me this is not against the TOS, I will post about how to find the cache files.
