I know that's the way they did it in XI too but a hop-on animation wold be greatly appreciated.

The owned chocobos are faster? Where did they say that? Sounds good and gives the players the motivation to do whatever we're required to do to unlock that.

What I really like about ArcheAge is that you can walk beside your mount and set it to flee or fight depending on if it gets attacked, and there's also three different animations depending on which side of the mount you choose to mount from.

I've said it a couple times but I'm thinking/hoping that when they said "fight with your chocobos" they really meant they would fight with you and become a partner NPC and their own pet job. Then the customization/breeding stuff would be really really really significant. Chocobos in the FFT games use different types of (really overpowered) abilities like Healing, Nuking, etc, so it wouldn't be out of the realm of reason.

Plans are in the works to do similar things apparently. Also involving the chocobo in battle among other things.
