Fishing works wonderfully on the PS4. I do it all the time ;)

*Have one personal computer at my desk, one at work, one attached to my tv* Anywhere I go, I can sit and play. Admittedly, my best machine is at my desk, but this lag you speak of... I know not what this is... But I can see what you might mean. My desk computer is running an I7, GTX 960, 16 GB RAM, and using Razer Naga and Nostromo to play, soooo... yeah, inferior desktops do lag. My Computer on my TV is an I5, GTX 770, and 16 GB RAM, and the one at work is an I3, stock video, and 8GB RAM. I only use the one at work for casual aspects of the game: Farming, Crafting, Beast Tribe Quests. The one on my TV isn't usually for the heavy raiding either. Mostly just casual dungeon content, or playing while also riding my stationary.
Not sure what you mean with PC issues. The only issue I have after a few hours of gameplay and too much alt-tabbing is the client stuttering due to memory leaks. Restart client, problem solved.
While I have a very good gaming laptop with an Nvidia GTX 880M and the possibility to get 32GM of ram (currently has 8), it certainly isn't an overspecced gaming rig. Yet, I have no hardware lag. The only times I lag is when the internet goes nuts due to ping spikes (EU Datacenter soon!).
Personally I would never game on a console but that's me. Know quite a few people that switched to PC cause the console (PS3 and 4) were just inferior in their opinion.
here we go with the pc master race mumbo jumbo......
(do whichever you enjoy, and if that happens to be both then fun x2)
yes you can get the trophy's, like everyone else said, one of each activity activates them :D
