"Hey SE can we do the thing you don't want us to do for the reason you don't want us to do it please?"
Same reason the majority cares about buffs/nerfs to their jobs even tho they perform at 40-60% job efficiency.
To be fair, ring is the only slot that has this problem. No one cares that you can buy tome gear for every slot of the proper ilvl, so why single out the ring slot?
Every slot has a tome piece and a raid piece to choose from. Except rings. Rings you have to get both raid and time just to have max ilvl equipped, and zero options like every single solitary other slot.
There's a reason most games just have 1 ring slot, or they go all out and give you 2 wrist, 2 ear, 2 ring slots. It's kinda strange the way they did it tbh.
Having an i120 and an i130 ring doesn't keep your level from being i130. Despite having an i120 ring, my WHM's ilevel is still 130.
I dislike crit on my WHM, so I have 0 interest in the t12 ring. You don't HAVE to go get a second i130 ring from coil, it's an option if it has the stats that you want, but it's not mandatory. So even people who have access to the raids and loot might not have interest in the items that drop. I, personally, am very happy with my i120 and i130 ring.
me i'm more bothered by the space allowed to the ring in the armory system hehe... we do have the same space than any other item....expect it's for 2 item.
Perhaps, and it's a good idea. I won't knock that, because it would make doing the coils for the first time that much easier. As it stands, "hard core" players are going to play "hard core" content whether serious incentive exists or not. And "casual" players will stick to "casual" content too, despite an incentive to run "hard core" content. But, there's another reason for the unique status too, specifically on gear like dreadwyrm. If someone could just need constantly on a piece of gear, they would just have multiple pieces of gear like the dreadwyrm rings. What's the point? No more benefit beyond just having two, right? It also makes them have to pass on gear they already have so that it can fall to others who might actually need it. Of course, this system could limit certain things to only being allowed to be had twice, and you can actually get around this system by storing your current ring on your retainer and then needing on it again. But the reasons for the system, despite it being restrictive, are there.
Never said they were. Just said that that was a reason for the unique status on them. That's not the only reason for the unique status either, but you can not deny that it is just one of the many reasons for running coils. I'm not saying it's fair to be restrictive of gear. Frankly, fair is all a matter of perspective. But you can not deny that they have their reasons. I have my reasons for not feeding my dogs chocolate and onions. They don't think it's fair, but I have my reasons.
Isn't anyone bothered by the fact we only have 2 choices?
I don't care about being ilvl 130. I meant max level in a slot. If I want a 130 wrist, I can choose between a 130 pie or a 130 DW depending on what stats I want, or if I don't raid I can just use the 130 poe. Same with body, neck, belt and every other slot.
Except rings. I don't care about 'needing' the power or whatever. It's the only slot that does not have a choice of equivalent ilvl options. Every slot is either/Or Dw/poe. Except rings.
It's just inconsistent that rings get some wierd special case scenario that no other slot has to deal with. Combined with the same inventory space but needing 2x as many, the ring slots are just needlessly annoying in general.
This game is already sorely lacking in viable equipment options. Rings really only have 1, while all others have a measly 2. It's bad enough without pidgin holing rings for no real logocal reason.
