Right. $300 for an expansion pack because of the figure I imagine(?), that was crazy.

That's not really the same situation. We do have high taxes, but not for PC games. PC games have never been more than 120 BRL, even new releases are around that price or cheaper. Brazil does treat console games and PC games differently. The prices on Steam are the same as the console games at the moment. Is a common sense on Steam to have fair prices for Brazilian players.
Nintendo pulled out because they never bothered in making their games in Brazil - everything was imported back then. Since it was imported, it had higher taxes. Even when $1 was around 2BRL (it's 1:3.2 now) Nintendo games were between 150BRL (3DS) and 200BRL (Wii/WiiU) and they sold a lot. Sony/Microsoft press their games in Brazil and they're absolutely fine paying the same taxes as any Brazilian company.
We're not asking for a 1:1 conversion - we're asking a fair price based on other similar products in Brazil.
GTA 5 = R$ 99,99
Mortal Kombat X = R$ 119,99
Elder Scrolls Online = R$119,99
Heavensward Standard = R$ 179,90 (why this costs more than a $60 game?)
Heavensward Digital Collector's Edition = R$ 229,99 (??????)
The high taxes are for console games not PC games (yeah that sounds crazy but that's how it works here) and Steam doesn't even pay taxes in Brazil. Some people don't know much about things outside their country but there's a thing called "regional prices" on Steam and others retailers, for example GTA 5 costs R$ 99,99 (from the $60 dollars) and even the freaking ARR costs just R$ 50 (from the $30~$25 dollars).
You know it's a mistake when all others SE games on Steam are priced correctly but Heavensward isn't or if i can buy 2 copies of GTA 5 instead of one copy of an expansion pack.
Oh u forgot Batman Arkham Knight , 120 BRL
Final Fantasy XIV HW standard 180BRL ?????????????????????????????
FFXIV ARR - 50 BRL - FFXIV ARR CE - 100BRL
FFXIV HW - 180 BRL - FFXIV HW CE - 230 BRL
Subscription - 33 BRL >>> the 15 dolar version sub
And you guys are really getting confused on how Steam works.
Steam is not a standard retailer. The price of the product must be an agreement between the dev/publisher and Valve itself.
So it's really up to Square-Enix to fix this
Yea this sucks... at least i got mine CE with a US PSN account for 60 usd ~186 dilmas but this price of 230 is madness
Makes me glad I bought from Square instead of going through steam.
Man this price is stupid ridiculous..
PSN BR posted their update and what we saw?
HW Standard Edition (on PSN Blog): 80.90 BRL (for PS3 and PS4) you open the PS Store and you see HW Standard Edition: 179.99 BRL
THE SAME STUPID PRICE ON STEAM. So the real price is 80.90 BRL not 179.99 BRL
PSN BR Post on Blog
Really hope to see they fixing the price like we saw NetherRealm doing with MKX that was on pre-order with 250.00 BRL and then they fixed for 89.90 BRL
Charging 180 BRL for a digital game is absurd. No digital game in this day and age costs that much (if ever had a single digital game at this price).
I'm pretty sure it's a mistake but if not then I'll say goodbye to FFXIV till I can buy it for a honest price.
As I said the best thing we can do is hope for Square Enix attention posting about the information we know here on this topic and also sending e-mails to the support staff in Mog-Station.
