Suggestions for 4.0 expansion

This! I've wanted the liberation of Ala Mhigo *far* more than I wanted more Ishgard, to be honest. Not that I'm unhappy about Ishgard and the new zones or anything.

i think 4.x will cover ala mhigo and that the wol will change to monk
as for my wish for 4.x an actuall magic close range class like a magic knight (but not with that excuse of a toothpick commonly called rapier)

1.x had Hamlet Defence late in it's cycle, which was similar to a Fate except that DoH/DoL had a period before it actually started to supply the base to be attacked to give it a better chance. Re-establishing that would actually make sense for 3.x, what with the dragonsong war.

We already have a close range, knight like class. they're called Paladins. I think you're just jealous of RDM's awesome hat.

What do you have against Rapiers? Just wondering. as they are effective against armored knights due to the speed and accuracy for hitting those weak spots on a knights joints, the groin area (slice that artery) or under the armpit.

They're only really effective in that case if said knight isn't wielding something like a greataxe, spear, or halberd...
But i digress. Rapiers are fine

Use of a rapier is based on dexterity, agility and precision, in other words, don't get hit :P You couldn't parry or block an attack from a much heavier weapon, but due to training, would avoid it and strike with the much faster weapon.

A pirate themed one could be cool. FC Ships and swimming Chocobos. PVP Naval Wars. Making your own pirate crew of NPC's. Just no underwater combat. That has never been done well.

it's still considered the very essence of a bad idea to go up against someone who has superior reach with a rapier. Just their swinging arc can be enough to keep a rapier user at bay.
For example, the same basic rules and limitations that apply to the rapier apply to the spear, except the spear has a much longer reach. It also weighs more but that's also an advantage. There's a reason you fielded Spearmen and not Rapiermen on the battlefield after all :P
The only TRUE advantage the rapier has over these weapons is in super close quarters where reach works against you. But even then you actually have to GET that close.
